I've made a binkie out of this manchild and have to admit I'm pleased so far. After all, we're talking about a RT stepping in at the toughest OL position and being mostly outstanding, with a few mistakes[IMO]. Houston tends to move Watt around, but I notice one place they didn't move him this game. Clowney beat him clean at least once, was stalled long enough to have no impact and was totally ragdolled by the beast on most plays I saw.

I worry there's an immaturity, lack of focus in his history but I don't see it so far. If he continues, I think we might have picked up a top LT cheap.

What do you think? [so far]

I think Dante has a lot of physical traits to mold there. I'm very excited to see him throughout the season but don't want to get too attached. I'm wondering if Wynn is the long term plan at lt and, if Trent's play is good enough, they recoup the 3rd round pick they traded for him with a compensatory 3rd.

I'd love him to be the long term answer though.

Sign the beast. Sign him now. Best LT we've had since Armstrong.

Looked great yesterday against strong competition. Very encouraging week 1.

I've never been a huge fan of Solder (he's fine, basically a league-average starting LT) so maybe this isn't a huge statement, but that's the great start to making a case that he's better than the guy he's replacing.

Imagine if we resigned Solder and picked up Brown.

At Wynn's height,he could be the answers at Rt or either guard. I don't see him being better that Brown for left tackle.

Oh, I think Brown has the ability to be fantastic. He's a free agent at the end of this year. Do the Pats allocate more big money to the o line or substitute a player on his rookie deal? I honestly don't know how they view Wynn, especially after the injury, but think its something that they'd consider.

I like the addition. I could never say a bad thing about solder. He’s a patriot through and through. He had so many personal problems but still gave everything to the team. His decision to move on was just business. He needs to ensure that his family will be able to bear the financial burden in case any cancer comes back. You never have enough money in this case.

From a team perspective, Brown is definitely good value. I think he’s quite smart and his technique seems pretty sound. I think he’s going to get better as the season progresses and will be around for a while.

Between yesterday against Houston and Jacksonville next week, that’ll be about as good of a 2 game sample as you can ask for. If things go well next week and deeper into the season it’ll be interesting as far as whether contract talk progresses.

Regardless of how they feel about Wynn, it’s hard to make clear and sound long term judgements if he isn’t on the field. Still don’t see Wynn as being locked in any one spot though. Meanwhile, you can’t exactly ignore a 6’8” 380lb monster if they’re staring you in the face and playing at a high level.

Agree with the sentiment above about not getting too attached, but I hope if the Pats feel comfortable with him past this season they can get things taken care of at a reasonable price.

I think it’s absolutely remarkable how they always find guys at T, LT or RT, and he’s the next one. Not going to get overhyped by one game but this dude looks like a monster and I hope he stays healthy. What happens after that is gravy.

While I love this statement, let’s not discount Matt Light.

Matt Light was better than Solder, that's all I can say about Matt Light. Other than 'He was Jason Taylor's bitch twice a year'.

To me, Light was average to above average. Solder was below average. Brown shut out the best defensive line (and maybe front 7)we'll face all year (except possibly next week). Solder never did that, not once, not never, without help.

Sign him, sign him now. Do not let this one walk. He's better than Mankins ever was, and you paid him.

To the Nate Solder contact right now? That’s at least what it’ll take if Brown has 15 more games like that one, so it’s probably about what it would take to sign him right now.

    If that's what it takes.

I don't care. Make him the highest paid tackle in the league, if he keeps this up, but the price tag goes up every week.

There was at least on play he threw Clowney to the ground like a rag doll. It made me laugh.

Just to be sure ask me after next week.:D That said his play has been very encouraging. Wish we had waited a little longer before we locked up Mason. Tackles especially LT's are worth more than Guards.

How can you not? He was the only good player on some terrible teams.

I wish her were 10 years older, actually, so he could have played next to Hannah. Leon Gray was a very good player, but Armstrong was a road grader and a brick wall. Or 10 years younger, so he could have won championships here. John Stephens and Leonard Russell had 1000 yard seasons because of him. Because it certainly wasn't because of their talent.

I'm intentionally overreacting after one game - but if he does this again next week, he's already better than 7 years of Nate Solder.
