Time to repent

I thought Boutte didn't have the toughness to be a consistent NFL WR.

thought BB was a bad hire in 2000
thought bringing in Randy Moss was dumb because he was a malcontent

compared to those two goofs all others pale in comparison, so much so that they look like albino polar bears
I liked the BB hire, but didn’t like it after season 1. We gave up a 1st round pick, and went 5-11. Then 2001 became a magical season.

Yes I know.
So many for me

Did not want Will campbell
Campbell would be moved to G by week 7
Josh Simmons steal of draft
Pats would not win more than 6 games
MCcarthy and Nix better than Maye

But I also have some wins also

Knew it was time to get rid of BB 4 years ago

Draft Lamar Jackson

Draft Jaylen Hurts

Draft Ladd Mconkey

Props to you Sam. I hope you enjoy them going forward. The Patriots are back!

I loved the hire, but hated the team that he put out there going into the 2000 season. There was no way they were going to compete with a roster like that. I was ready to be done with BB after the Bengals loss in 2001. It looked like 2000 on repeat. Also, hated the uniforms. Still do. I want the 90's threads back!

Since we're going that far back, I didn't think Tom Brady would be on the team for long.

I hated the Seymour pick. I wanted David Terrell, Kenyatta Walker or Duece McCalister.
Draft Lamar Jackson
They wouldn't have won the Super Bowl in 2018. The likelihood of them finding a serviceable RB that year would've been slim to none, especially after Develin took out Jeremy Hill week 1.
Draft Ladd Mconkey
Yes. I would've passed on him in favor of a bigger body WR because Douglas was supposed to be that guy. This is why I think they passed on him. Douglas overall hasn't been that guy.

We have a lot of posters that like to remind us of things they predicted correctly, I am certainly not immune.

In the name of accountability, what is your biggest miss 10 weeks in?

Mine is easy.
I did not want to rehire McD.
I thought his accomplishments were all due to BB and TB, as he never really accomplished much on his own.

I was 10000000000% wrong.
He has been a revelation and has the offense humming.

Big swing and miss by me on that one.
That's a big sin, way more than venial but not quite mortal, so it will cost you 5 Hail Mary's and 5 Our Fathers.

There are 2 Patriots I have been very down on

Hollins, while my concerns are real that he doesn’t produce as much as the snaps he plays warrants, the offense hasn’t been held back by his invisibility for long stretches, and he has had a couple of very nice games.

Elliss, keeps making the mistakes I am down on him for, but his athleticism is better than I realized and he makes some plays now and then. Still prefer Gibbens to be playing there but I have seen some positives in Elliss
I would say if you're going to own up to something, let it be full throated.

I don't start a lot of threads, but thought this one would be interesting.
I like when I'm wrong if it helps the team, and boy was I wrong on McD.

I think it's a good idea for people to own their ****, as opposed to continually doubling down. Sam is the best example of this, he owned his **** and imo that puts it in the past. Hopefully it makes it easier for him to enjoy this going forward.

3) I wanted Ashton Jeanty and then a LT in the second round (this would have been a complete, unmitigated disaster)

I don't know about unmitigated disaster, but I do think the status quo is better.

I don't criticize the team or players very much. It took me at least a quarter of last season before I finally criticized Mayo for sending mixed messages on about everything. I defend Wolf at every turn. I expected Maye and Campbell to be studs cause of where we picked them - they know better than I. I wasn't happy with the Polk pick but didn't say it cause I figured they knew something I didn't (was wrong on that one).

This thread was a good idea, let the critics confess. Hopefully some lessons have been learned.

I was unduly harsh on the Mack Hollins signing. He is tall, big and makes a difference in run blocking. His length also comes in handy on third downs where he becomes a mismatch against opposing #3 CB’s.

He’s nothing special as an athlete outside of his build, but he knows how to play football and plays like his hair is on fire. Plus he’s a positive locker room guy and in a league full of diva WR’s having a blue collar WR is a net positive.

Hahaha you ready for this, I hated the hire. I had a bit of a grudge for him beating us in 94 still and I bought into some of the hype the sports media was feeding us about Capers. My father had to convince me how much he meant to the 96 team and that he absolutely was the right hire. The following season pops took me to my first SB.

When did that happen? Last I saw he was still saying we suck and the record is a mirage because if the schedule. I think it was less than 10 posts ago he says we were the 8th best team in the AFC
