Time for a Taylor Price thread?

My reaction to Price last year was that neither he nor Tate were good enough to keep us from HAVING to trade for Branch. That was after a full camp, preseason, and a half dozen games. That Denver 4th was very high, BB doesnt like giving up picks like that so I wonder if he isnt on the bubble this year when a vet WR is brought in.

First of all, the trade for Branch has absolutely nothing to do with Taylor Price. It doesn't even have anything to do with Brandon Tate either. They were are 2 youngsters that were drafted for the future, especially Price who didn't even see the field--and was not expected to. The Branch trade may have been made due to the fact that we had just gotten rid of our #1 receiver, and were left with somewhat of a hole, or 'need.' Branch already had plenty of knowledge in our system, had a great rapport with Brady, and came relatively 'cheap' for any kind of 'name' WR--especially since there were not many options over a month into the season.

Again...Price had nothing to do with 'a half dozen games,' as he did not have any knowledge of the system, and was drafted to be a WR of the future. Unless you live next door to him, I am not sure where you 'saw' his inadequacies? Surely not in the 1/2 dozen games, the dozen games, the season, or the post-season....because...he..did..not..play.

I wonder if he isnt on the bubble this year when a vet WR is brought in.

You are actually wondering outloud on the message board if a Belichick 3rd round draft pick from last yr who did not even see the field is 'on the bubble' this year??

I would say that I am speechless, but then again I feel like saying so much.

For those who do not realize (and most of us do)--

Taylor Price is considered a 'high' draft pick here. He came in the 3rd round, and was considered a decent prospect at the position.

He may very well be the fastest player on the entire team, if not he is surely in the top 2 or 3. He runs a 4.40, and has been timed in the 4.3's before.

He was picked for the future, as going into the draft last April we were decently stocked at the position with Moss, Welker, a finally injury free Tate, Edelman, the signing of Holt as a vet, and the re-emergence of the TE with picks of Hernandez and Gronkowski. Price was not expected to see the field, and immediately came in on the bottom of the depth chart, and with good reason. It is a complex offensive system, relying heavily on reading the defense, the ability to quickly improvise, and most of all..timing. It would be extremely ignorant for someone to believe that he was drafted to contribute in his rookie year with such a supporting cast of all-stars, with absolutely no knowledge of the playbook, the system, any rapport with Brady, and the involvement of the TE's being blended into the scheme more.

We can't even agree on Tate's role or future here, because it's too early to have enough of a sample size to go on---now we are going to throw Price under the bus when he didn't even really see the field???

Hell, Edelman showed us all great promise in the playoff game vs Baltimore last yr, so much that some well-respected posters predicted a '100+' year of receptions for him---and HE didn't even really see many WR reps due to the depth chart etc. How in the world can someone already have a bad feeling about Taylor Price????

It's almost comical.

My reaction to Brady last year was that neither he nor Hoyer were good enough to keep us from HAVING to use a third round pick on Ryan Mallett. :bricks:

The more I look at the Mallett pick, the more I see BB thinking WAY ahead...

Hoyer won't want to sit behind Brady forever....use Hoyer as trade bait for another player or draft pick. He was signed as a UDFA so whatever BB gets for him is gravy. ....

Groom Mallett as Brady's backup for 2012 since Hoyer's contract runs out after the 2011 season. ( Of course this assumes Mallett progresses enough to earn the backup spot)

One has to assume Brady won't suffer another season ending injury and if he does that BB has confidence enough in Mallett after 2011 to step in ala Cassel.

Absolutely. That's the 2nd time in just the last 3 drafts that NE was forced to spend a 3rd rounder in an attempt to upgrade the QB position.

It seems PFF isn't the only one who thinks Brady is a weak link.

Maybe it's time for a QB controversy thread

Maybe Rex will trade the Sanchize to Pats for TB......even steven

You sure he would? The Sanchize was a much higher profile draft selection and has more playoff wins in his tenure than Brady does in the same seasons. Plus he throws a pretty deep pass.

I'd look elsewhere, Rex isn't a sucker.

LOL..Rex isn't a sucker...LMFAO !!!!!!

Great line sir...

Rex ain't no sucker!!!

he's a toucher..a fondler...a tickler...a tee hee-er..a massager...but he AIN'T NO SUCKER!!!!!!:scream:
