My uncle actually did a lot worse then the OP. We are both Penn State football fans and we were talking about the spring practice game (blue-white) while we were at a family dinner. He then told me that he was watching some of the NFL draft as well and that he was surprised that Barkley was still available at #12. I told him that the draft wasn't until Thursday and he must have been watching a replay of last years draft.

Inside every old man is a young one wondering what the hell happened.

Make that almost every old man. In a general sense I know exactly how it happened although some of the details remain a bit fuzzy . I'm sure if I had I treated my body like the temple my sainted mother insisted it was rather than the engine of mayhem my government used it as or the carnival tent I was certain it was designed to be it might function a bit better now but no sense crying in my whiskey now over all I enjoyed then. Hell given the choice I'd probably do most of it all over again tomorrow although among a few things I might do different maybe just one less night with the crazy hot chick that planted a chef's knife in my thigh...

Like, all lifelong Patriots fans...

You're not a lifelong Patriots Fan. You abandoned them at their lowest point.

You couldn't take it any more. You sold out.

You bailed on your home team.

...And then we started kicking ass.

...And then you tried to slip in the back door.

...Your mistake was admitting that you abandoned us...and coming up with the psychotic rationale that it was because we changed uniforms.

You sign in here, years after you abandoned this team, and not only do you fail to admit your shame, but actually act not only like you've got integrity ~ you don't ~ but act as if your gutless abandonment when we were losing somehow elevated you above us who were loyal.

All you gotta do is admit that you lacked the guts to stick with us, abandoned us when it got to be too much, deeply regret having done so...and want back in.

We who are actually loyal would let you back in, I'm sure...wouldn't we?

Just a Public Service Reminder. Some may actual buy your schtick.

The problem with getting old, besides being not young, is that everything you do creates a new and different experience(medical ****)..

4 weeks ago I had a pancreatitis attack, the ER said it was because of a med I have been on for about 10 years, they gave me a new med to replace it.. initially thought I was having problems because of the pancreatitis.. this AM on the golf course had wicked dizzy spells and rapid heart rate, that was due to the new medication.. so now we try a new medication... the adventure continues.

Youth is wasted on the young, trust me.. if you got it enjoy it.

Since we are already off-topic:
Buffalo Trace and Woodford for me.
Give Bookers a try. It's not for the faint at heart, at 129 proof, and not cheap. Pushing 80 per bottle now here in NH. I will have mine with 2 rocks and a dash (like a drop, just bigger) of water.

I have heard that Buffalo Trace is good.

Let's get to the important point... what was the bourbon of choice?

Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier... usually I'm down with Evan Williams, Knob Creek, or Bulleitt... but I was drinking this... which I think of as a bourbon, since it has bourbon characteristics and coloring, but actually it's a gin.

Tom Cat Barr Hill Reserve from Vermont... a client gave me a bottle... gin with serious florals... infused with a bit of honey, and aged in oak casks... hence the coloring. The Reserve is 100 proof.

Tremendous neat. The smell wafting up from the glass is wild. The flavors are unbelievable... so much so that I can't sip it with a cigar... it drowns the cigar out... which I'd never had happen before.

So at least I had THAT going for me.

You've got disciples too!

Anyway, pretending the 90's are a mirage is an interesting fantasy...lots of you would know about that since that's what you consider our first 33 seasons to be...

Enjoying the hell out of it is what helped put many of us in the condition we're in now

Last night at 8:50, I poured myself a nice glass of bourbon, cleared Mrs. Rover out of the TV room, and settled into the comfy chair (the comfy chair?!?!). Had my iPhone handy for following along.

I tuned to the NFL Network for the next ten minutes, not paying much attention... then at 8:58pm up came a promo... the draft starts Thursday April 26th.

That is to say... NEXT Thursday. NOT last night. As I thought it did.

Kids... one piece of advice... don't get old. And stupid.

Thursday? When did they start having Thursdays?

Nobody's story is as sad as Richard's, a Jete fan that I cybermet when I was an AOLe during the start of the Pats' dynasty. Richard was a Pats fan who decided to follow Tuna Crap to Joisey. Talk about horrible timing.

I'm having trouble tracking this down in any local stores. Do they only sell it online? Your review definitely has me intrigued!
