I did!

For last night.

I was expecting you to say something like, “I’m so old I didn’t know you could do that”...

If it makes you feel better, I recently set a personal record for the amount of time it took me to find my keys - over an hour. Of course they were right in my key box the whole time but I couldn't see them.

Yes, it's back to the time of year it used to be. My wedding anniversary is coming up; there's video from the wedding day before the ceremony where a buddy was following the draft via phone and told me they just drafted Aaron Hernandez, and I was thrilled and couldn't stop talking about how he'd be a great fit for the team. Oops......
Well... he WAS a great fit for the team until he committed homicide.

There are just additional rules you have to add to your life.

Pay a teenager to mow, rake leaves, shovel driveways, etc.
Don't pretend you can still stay up until 2AM and next day act like nothing happened.
Never trust a fart.
Never waste good wood. And I'm not talking about the projects in the workshop.

Whenever I feel old and stupid I hand the wife an old remote and tell her to change the batteries...LOL!

Eh, depending on if you care what it looks like.. There isn't a teenager on this planet that can mow a lawn as well as a man who knows his yard.. Jmo.. Shoveling raking ok, you can always say you missed a spot, if they screw up the lawn not so much

Makers Mark.

But seriously, this getting old is getting old.

My mind keeps telling me that I'm 25. The next morning my body reminds me that I'm not.
Inside every old man is a young one wondering what the hell happened.

No harm in a practice run, just remember to replenish the bourbon before next Thursday.

And as for the aging factor, as a septuagenarian, I can testify that like a roll of toilet paper, the further along you get, the faster it goes!

Last night at 8:50, I poured myself a nice glass of bourbon, cleared Mrs. Rover out of the TV room, and settled into the comfy chair (the comfy chair?!?!). Had my iPhone handy for following along.

I tuned to the NFL Network for the next ten minutes, not paying much attention... then at 8:58pm up came a promo... the draft starts Thursday April 26th.

That is to say... NEXT Thursday. NOT last night. As I thought it did.

Kids... one piece of advice... don't get old.

And stupid.
Why weren't you watching the Bruins game?

The great thing about getting older physical & mentally is...

...yeah...I got nothing.

Although I have lived long enough to go from being Superman to the village idiot to a trusted adviser to my sons who in turn now have teenagers of their own that view them as complete morons but still see me as the fountain of all male wisdom, so there's that. And while many of my capabilities frustrate me by fading at times my giveadamn hasn't faded at all, it actually appears to be permanently busted and that seems to be working out surprisingly pretty well.

Did you turn the TV on with the clickah'?

The NFL has a whole industry to support in the off season. It gives all the talking heads on NFL network, ESPN and Fox sports something to talk about 6 months until the season starts again.

Then-owner James Orthwein was quoted in the Boston Globe saying, "This is evolution, not revolution. The Minuteman is still the central focus. I like to think of memories as the rearview mirror we monitor as we drive into the future."

Memories.

Like, "I remember way back when we could root for our team no matter what, like they still do in Green Bay, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Dallas, Kansas City, etc...

Guess we're just not worthy, like them..."

The changes weren't well received by a faction of fans who preferred the traditional "Pat Patriot" logo...

  1. a small, organized, dissenting group within a larger one.

    • a state of conflict within an organization; dissension.

Like, all lifelong Patriots fans, everyone in the stadium at the game in 1979, every single person I see in my life since 1993...

Like, the segment of a population that likes to eat food, breathe air...

Without question those were the loudest sustained boos I recall ever hearing at Schaefer.
