The Week after a Loss Sucks

Probably not. I'm also sure you probably don't know MacPherson, Rust, Berry, Meyer, or Erhardt.. I could go further back, but if you lived through those days, a loss in the space of a freaking year definitely doesn't suck.
I go back to Fairbanks. You are kind of an odd duck.

I just avoided football for a few days and dug myself deep into some things I needed to get done. It worked out for me.

Me too.

It occurred to me that my interest declined somewhat after the Denver loss, but less was on the loss and more of my discontent was just my loathing of all things NFL* shining through.

I am not a fair weather fan, the NFL* as currently constructed has lost me as a fan, it is just as long as the Pats keep winning with BB and TFB I will follow them, but I know I won't follow the NFL* once I no longer have their excellence to watch.

It really feels like just a matter of time until I'm done with the NFL*.

So you're telling me you've been through all that and you're complaining about our first loss of the year?

Don't think I'm the one who's an odd duck here.

Sorry I mistook you for a kid who has only experienced the BB/Brady era.

I don't care, I can't stand it!

McPherson....heh...jeezus, PP2...why not bring up the Chosin Death March? I had season tickets I wanted to burn after THAT debacle

Fans should have been around for the years of 1989 to 93, record of 19 & 61 including a one win season..

Maybe there was a reason that Pats Gear was so hard to find, those days would go to work on Sunday and there would be all the Fins. Jets and Giants fans in their butt ugly "puff" coats.. proud as peacocks, and to add insult to injury most games were blacked out.. Used to wear my headphones to listen to the game, they thought I was a degenerate gambler... but I was just a loyal fan.

It was difficult being a Pats fan in that stretch, and with the shenanigans of the Sullivan Family there was little hope for the future..

Don't see too many Jets or Fins puff coats lately, maybe they are losing their loyalty..

Very impressive. Sounds like stories of occupied areas during WW2. Trying to explain to kids that'll never understand. Luckily I've never had to deal with blacked out games here.

Actually at this point, a couple down years probably wouldn't be a bad thing for the Pats. It'd thin out the herd. I'm sure there are plenty of youngin's who've never really experienced rough times (and will run for the hills at first sign of trouble), and front-runners in general that make it worse for the loyal fans (more expensive tickets, foolish conversations|arguments, and so on...).

Hell, after two afc championship runs, the Jets were even picking up some unwanted types who gravitate towards winning. That was bad enough. Must really be bad for you guys.

Bad memories are erased with the current run of success... but there are days I want to go full tilt "Carrie" on Jets, Giants and Fins fans for their uppity attitudes in the early 90's...

Eh... ya get used to it.

Some of us have walked a mile in your shoes JF79. Well, maybe not a mile but at least a half a mile.

week is over man...its sunday...!

From 1976 to about roughly 1988 the Pats were a great team which I loved. (Yes there was one 2-14 year which was miserable, and quite a few no playoffs which were close) but besides that one awful year 1981 I think... that team was great. It was harder to get to the play offs then and the competition was tougher through much of it.

Yes the 89-93 stretch was god horrible but I was so busy getting through college and trying to start my life it barely impacted me. Seemed like a blink in time for and all the sudden I'm hearing Bill Parcells is coming and I was in shock that he would come to coach the Pats. Things have been just about the greatest anyone can ever hope for as a team's sports fan since then. Twenty one or so years of mostly mind boggling greatness, a couple below average years under Parcells, only one under 500 year under Belichick. The worst year under Carrol a 500 year. They got 7 AFC Championships and 4 Super Bowl titles in last 21-22 years.

When you combine this current era with most of the Grogan/Morgan era., the Pats are basicly a good/great franchise to amazingly excellent franchise. I often feel like the Pats overall existence gets a bad rap. They were quite good quite often.

They had a 12 year no playoffs stretch from 64 to 76.. so that is really your darkest period. Yes the years between Grogan and Bledsoe were horrible but it was pretty short wrapped by first a solidly good era and an insanely great era.

Put it this way the 2000-2015 Bills would have killed to perform at the 1974-1989 Pats levels. Actually same for Jets and Dolphins 2000-2015 teams.

Also, Pat Patriot should come back forever.

My 4 year old daughter went to bed before the end of the 2007-2008 Super Bowl. Every morning for the next 3 weeks she would ask if the Patriots won. Now that was painful.
