The silence on nfl.com is scary, it's like they are waiting to give the news and drop the bomb at the same time.

Greg A. Bedard ? @GregABedard
"Counsel for the Patriots, however, refused to make Jim McNally available for a follow-up interview." Wow.

Bob Kraft's statement says that Wells had already interviewed McNally FOUR TIMES at this point and was requesting a FIFTH interview and Kraft basically told him to screw off. So Wells words it like this.

I hate to say it, but "more probable than not" means we're losing a draft pick and the cheating ******** is back. Put this in your signature if you think I'm wrong.

McNally: Tom sucks...im going make that next ball a ****in balloon

Jastremski: Talked to him last night. He actually brought you up and
said you must have a lot of stress trying to get them done...

Jastremski: I told him it was. He was right though...

Jastremski: I checked some of the balls this morn... The refs ****ed
us...a few of then were at almost 16

Jastremski: They didnt recheck then after they put air in them

McNally: **** tom ...16 is nothing...wait till next sunday

Jastremski: Omg! Spaz

In what universe is this proof of anything dastardly?
It looks like 2 high schoolers screwing around because obviously McNally is responsible for actually preparing the game balls, and Brady likes them on the low end. I don't see anything particularly damning, besides Brady saying he didn't know McNally's name...

Well it is obvious that the rest of the team bears no responsibility including Belichick. My only question is if they plan to nail Tom for suspecting "he was generally aware", how would they punish him?

My guess is that the Pats got F'd big time. Kraft better remember this next time before he throws Goodell a lifeline.

Time for the 2015-2016 FU tour to begin.
Hard to have an FU tour without Brady.

You guys do realize that all the "**** Tom" stuff is in jest, yes?

Sounds like these guys were simply horsing around about doing a relatively routine job... They repeatedly reference OVER-inflating the balls. "Blow up the ball to look like a rugby ball" "****ing watermelons coming."

"Probably" means that they have no concrete evidence though, would that not be correct?

Ehh..... I have several aquaintances who's names I'd have to think long and hard about in order to remember, because of nicknames.

And this is why I don't buy into this stuff. If one of his main jobs is to make the QB happy with the way the footballs are prepared, you're going to find the guy joking around about it. Brady made it known that he likes them on the low end. I don't see this as proving anything. I just don't get why Brady would deny knowing the guys name. That's the only small inconsistency I see.

I posted this a page or two ago but for reference...

"In sum, the data did not provide a basis for us to determine with absolute certainty whether there was or was not tampering as the analysis of such data ultimately is dependent upon assumptions and information that is not certain. However, based on all of the information provided to us, particularly regarding the timing and sequencing of the measurements conducted by the game officials at halftime, and on our testing and analyses, we conclude that within the range of game characteristics most likely to have occurred on Game Day, we have identified no set of credible environmental or physical factors that completely accounts for the additional loss in air pressure exhibited by the Patriots game balls as compared to the loss in air pressure exhibited by the Colts game balls measured during halftime of the AFC Championship Game."

... What Wells says here, in essence, is "I can't find any evidence of tampering, but based on the memory of the referees, and on a bunch of assumptions we made up about the circumstances at the time, we feel science doesn't explain the pressure drop. So, the Pats cheated."

Independent, my eye! The league has gone completely south. It's in the sports entertainment/pro wrestling zone now.

Perhaps. But those texts do make it clear that Brady knew who McNally and Jastremski were which means Brady was outright lying in his interview when he said he didn't know McNally's name or what he did. And that's not a good thing. First, why was he lying? Second, lying to the investigation will (rightly, I have to say) draw a significant penalty.
