The Jets Rebuiding...

Very good and interesting post. But wouldn't it be fair to include the 2006 draft as well, considering in that draft the Jets added 2 of the best offensive linemen in the NFL at their respective positions in Nick Mangold and D'brickshaw Ferguson?

No, you didn't!

I've openly criticized the Patriots for not throwing the bank at probowl level players while worrying to much about "value", and I'm not a big fan of the "our 2nd stringers are better than your 2nd stringers " smack talk, but it's not even a close call. The Patriots are WAY more equipped to handle injuries (outside of Tom Brady or Randy Moss) than the Jets are right now. It's not just injuries too. Things never go exactly as planned in the NFL, and it's important to have alternatives, and it's yet to be seen if the Jets are capable of improvising if things don't go exactly as scripted.

If the Jets made the same mistake with Faneca that Minnesota made with Birk (i.e. have the best run blocking line in the NFL one year and the next year the line can't anchor an elite running game without its veteran presence), will Sanchez be ready to lead a pass first offense like Favre was able to? While we're talking about the Vikings, if Scott or Harris goes down like EJ Henderson last year, do the Jets have a guy they found with a late draft pick who can fill in like Jasper Brinkley did? If Revis either holds out into the season or comes back and isn't the 2009 Revis who could shut down any NFL receiver without any safety help, do the Jets have a way of consistently getting pressure if Jim Leonhard is in coverage rather than blitzing? I'll admit the Jets are a scary team more than capable of winning the division and even the superbowl, but it remains to be seen if they have the flexibility and depth to deal with certain things going wrong.

Oh, and lol @ Jetfan bragging about having tons of depth at fullback. Having the best backup fullback and best 3rd string fullback in the NFL is as useful as having an a**hole on your elbow.

1.) The Patriots don't have any holdouts. Mankins is an unsigned free agent, not a player with multiple years left on his contract.

2.) Mankins is an excellent OG, but the Patriots don't scheme the entire offense around him. The Jets, on the other hand, scheme the defense around Revis.

He's a restricted free agent or else he would be on another team already.

Revis is a big part of the Defense but Rex has survived without good corners before just like the Pats have survived plugging back ups into the line. Of course without Cro and Wilson the Jets would be in a very different situation.

When has 'Rex survived without good corners before'?
Do you even know his resume?
