in BB's mind weeks 1-4 are basically an extension of the preseason. We dont usually kick it into overdrive until around week 5 or 6.

That’s just a fan theory because the team kind of sucks coming out of the gates every so often. Then a trade is made or they find what works. Was 2016, 2015, 2011, etc just an extension of the preseason?

Keeping Richards 3 years was a mistake. Why repeat it?

Dawson is the 6th CB/DB and has very little value on STs.

The reason is simply. First you take on dead money and 2nd you would have to tell yourself, yeah I passed up several quality players, then traded up, drafted a scrub and this was extremely dumb. That's a lot harder than people think it is.

Maybe Dawson stinks or maybe he just needs more time to develop. Not everybody is good right away. I think past highly drafted CB failures is making people jump the gun on Dawson. Cannon stunk early and many were calling for his head. Gilmore was being called a horrible signing a few games into his Patriots career. Maybe his upside is weak but if you cut him now you risk another Justin Coleman or Kenny Moore situation at a time when the Pats have an aging secondary and will be looking for replacements next year.

What a strange ride the WR position has been on over the course of this camp. Right now there's a clear big four of Edelman, Gordon, Harry and Thomas--wow. But I dare you to call anybody else a lock.

The other huge question to me is, of all things, exactly which special teams positions all of the ST standouts play. We can't carry all of these guys:

Brooks
Calhoun
Crossen
Ebner
Munson
Olszewski
Slater

That has been my main concern for a while as well. If he can't play, oh well. But if he can in a year or 2 and the Patriots are losing 2-3 of their top DBs next year, BB will hate himself for cutting him.

Carry just 2 QBs and trading Hoyer. The extra roster spot for a TE.

That’s what I thought, maybe it was a TV error on the play clock.

I think what we see on TV is the whole second, and not the milli-second, so it's possible there was something like 0.4 seconds left when they snapped, but all we see is the "0" part. I feel like we see the clock hit 0 all the time right off the snap and it's usually fine.

It seems to me that Gunner could be the next Edleman/Troy Brown, he never makes it to the
PS. I think BB finds a way to get him to the 53.
