The 7-man offensive line

Re: The 7 Man Offensive Line

If Belichick really traded Seymour because Belichick thought he was over the hill, then I am fine with the trade. I just don't believe he traded Seymour for that reason.

A better comparison for me was the trading of Vrabel.

Got it, thanks.

Re: The 7 Man Offensive Line

If you think that Stanback chipping Freeney for .5 second is help then your football knowledge quite embarassing.

Thank you for the comedy. Perhaps you could tell this to all the coaches and coordinators who think it is help.

That would be just about every single one of them. If they didn't think it was helping, they wouldn't be doing it.

Your acting like I am not a believer and have given up on the team. I still believe that this team can make a run in the playoffs if they can fix their problems that they have. Congrats that you have been called a "Belichick suck up" in another thread, thank you for defending the team that you love.

I'm not acting like you're anything but a shill who's finally realized that there's less bloom on the rose than there used to be. If the shoe fits, and all that. You gave me crap about only posting negative when I've been doing things like defending Maroney all season, and it took you until the Saints game to finally see, and admit to, some of the problems that have been around since before the season began. Congratulations, you're only about 9 months late to the party.

And I'm not on this board to defend the Patriots. I'm on this board to talk about football, generally Patriots oriented. Sometimes that will mean defending the player/coach/team, and sometimes it will mean criticizing it.

Having a WR chip a DE like that is very uncommon in the NFL, how many times did the Patriots use it vs the Colts?, not many at all probably less than 5. Have they used it since? I dont think so. That was a unique way to try and contain Mathis and Freeney and it wasnt the best way that they used which is why it wasnt used much.

Your telling me that before the season started you knew that the offense was going to struggle like they are now? You knew theyd have problems in the red zone? You knew that we couldnt win on the road? I dont think so.

You never addressed the "stalking" comment. That might have been the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on here.

Re: The 7 Man Offensive Line

(to mgteich: I know, I thought the coversation was off the topic you brought up as the OP, which I didnt think was what qualifies as a "starting" OL)

MEEeeooooowwww, hows the weather out in P-town fellas? Rainy too?
not to try stir the pot or anything(well, maybe), but I do remember one really good chip that Stanback got in during the Colts game, which definitely helped. Now whether every chip-block is excuted aswell is another thing, because when a wr just touches a guy on the way out, thats not really help

OK so lets say we leave 7 guys into protect. Do we the posters want those two extra guys to both be real TEs, or should one/both be a OL at the TE position? I know ideally we want both to be TE because then it gives us flexibility to change the call and have one/both go out on routes, but if we're heading onto the field knowing that we are going to have them in blocking regardless, should one/both of those guys be OL?
I have been suprised by our lack of using Baker as a receiver. I think somebody mentioned that the jests forum was suprised aswell. I thought he showed that he can adjust his route on the fly when he caught that TD pass over the shoulder earlier in the year adn was going to be a solid #3 option. I know the guy isnt fast and doesnt get great seperation, but he gets position. IDK, sometimes I just dont get BB. You draft an athletic freak TE in Watson, then the majority of the time you use him, hes a blocker. We all know hes had the dropsies, but,...IDK, I guess it all goes back to the QB-WR/TE trust
