This page has been updated with season rankings, along with first half/second half totals on both sides after I tried finding rankings by half but couldn't, so I modified ours and added them:

The Patriots currently lead the league in first-half scoring, but they're 22nd in the NFL in second-half scoring. Oddly enough, the Bills lead the NFL in second-half scoring (which obviously was an issue Sunday), with the Ravens coming in not far behind them at #3 in that category, which is obviously going to be something to watch this weekend.

Sunday was a thing I have been concerned with for a while. The Pats have a tendency to get up in the first half and take their foot off the gas in the second half. It killed them on Sunday. It could have hurt them against the Falcons and the Bengals. If the Saints were any good, it could have hurt them there too. All three of those games they scored a lot of points in the first half and settled for field goals in the second and only scored more than one field goal in the second half against the Bengals.

I want to see the Pats when they go up by 21 points try to win the game by 40 something. Just kill the opponent in the second half. Play the second half like you are down.

The way they are playing second halves this year will not cut it in the playoffs. Buffalo will kill them again in the second half. The Broncos have been a big fourth quarter team which could also hurt the Pats. And if the Pats are lucky enough to get to the Super Bowl, most of their likely opponents would destroy them if they take the foot off the gas.

Really curious to see how it all plays out. Imho, the loss was a good wake up call and learning experience for the playoffs. When they were up 21-0, and the Bills were storming through on their way to a TD, the smug looks on the Pats faces early in the drive reminded me of BB's face after the Bills almost-all-runs-windy-game, and I also had strong 21-3 against the Colts vibes. I have been very wrong about Maye, and I have a feeling he'll learn from this - He's been incredible. In the 4thQ, the Pats did take the lead on his watch, but the D failed them.

To your point, Nix looks like he's got ice in his veins.

In fairness to Maye, this year he hasn't had a lot of opportunities to mount a fourth quarter comeback.

And fourth quarter comebacks can be overrated. As you said, the QB could do everything he needed to stage the fourth quarter comeback only to be let down by his defense in the end. Also, a game where you score the come from behind winning drive early in the fourth quarter is not the same as doing it with only minutes or seconds left at the end of the quarter.

With all that said, Nix has been a consistent fourth quarter QB. He has been wildly inconsistent in the other three quarters, but he is clutch at the end of the game.

Some PatsFans would do this regarding Bo Nix: but I'm not in that camp. Maye will get many more chances to prove he can: sometimes you have to lose to win.
