Tavai: “Booing fans should know their place”

Don't tell us how to be fans then Tavai.
The thing that the players who take stands like that like "don't tell us how to play football we know more than you do"

What they don't realize is the average fan watches the whole league consume more football than a player could have time to or ever want to so you don't need to even be some kind of expert or in all the intricacies of the game or even be completely sober watching the games to compare the playoff product you see every week to the crap the Patriots have been serving up for years.

The Patriots are light years behind in every way, how can anyone watch that Chargers game and do anything but boo?

That looked like a college football game where they bring in Ball State to play an SEC school, an NFL game shouldn't look like that.

This is why Mayo isn't going anywhere,.

There are more guys just like Tavai who will defend Mayo. If Kraft fires Mayo and hired Vrabel it would create a $hitstorm.
The good news is that he'd blow Tavai out of here so fast it would make his head spin faster than if he was covering a running back.

Tavai: "So, to anybody who was offended, that’s not who I am. What I am is a guy who is going to defend his brothers. Anybody who is my co-worker or comes to this facility, I’m going to have their back. I’m sure if somebody who is listening right now, if somebody came into their house and did the same thing and talked about their family and people they worked with, they’ll act some type of way too. That’s it. So if that clears up a lot of stuff, and if people still don’t like it, then whatever. It is what it is."

He doesn't get it... we pay his salary. He's in the entertainment industry. It's not the same thing.

90% of the roster is lucky to be in the league. They won’t say ****. They’ll just start kissing Vrabel’s ass.

I have never deeply followed the inside workings of the team, but I have a good intuition, and the way the offseason went down immediately gave me the "they're now officially a perennially meh franchise" gut feeling. My gut is seldom wrong. This is just another notch carved.
Krafts gut feeling is irritable bowel syndrome.

He had a chance to be like Red Auerbach and not let Brady leave.

Another dumb contract handed out by Elliot Wolf. There was absolutely no reason to extend him, but he did.

His cap hit is $3M in 2025, but the dead cap is almost $6.5M. It's cheaper to keep him for 2025.

2026 is when it will be time to kick his ass to the curb where the cap hit ($5.4M) is more than the dead cap ($3.4M).

Mr. Tuggy definitely has a knack for compounding his errors*. I'd once read that we create our own hells, and for me this is the latest validation of such.

*It reminds me of an old bad habit I've worked hard at curing - my penchant for panicking when I screw up a project and attempting a quick fix, or worse a series of quick fixes, rather than cooling my head and coming back fresh. I'd make things worse. Every. Single. Time. Can Tuggy learn?

Considering we're well over 100million in cap space, 6.5 isn't a blip on that screen.

This is true.

Football is that big in the USA. It has taken over the other sports. Its 12 months out of the year now. The Draft brings in millions and is an event where other fans fly in to attend. The Super Bowl brings in a billion plus. I've been to 7 Super Bowls and its way more than just the game on Sunday.

You do nice work, so its likely hard to fix something that adheres to your standards.

Kraft is trying to get in the HOF and its a real bad look to fire Mayo and hire a white guy.

I doubt the players would stay quiet. Some would, but many would have something to say about Kraft.

New England Fans also have other Major Sports Teams to root for. I also have the Celtics game package League Pass. In comparison, this only costs $17.00 per month or about $102.00 per season. The regular season is about 6 months and 82 Games Long which I can watch live or at any time I want. The Celtics winning the NBA Championship last year kinda took the sting out of such a lousy Patriots Season.
I'm going to need a repeat.

Thank you for the kind words!

In this case, though, it's if I break something outright and then let the break eat at me so much it overwhelms my good judgement - think along the lines of 'gluing a broken part surrounded by still-wet paint'

Sadly this is a key factor in decision about Mayo. Kraft cares more about his HOF election down the road than putting winning team on the field. So I am not optimistic about chances Mayo is fired.

Only hope I think is if Pats get blown out on Sunday. That would provide him with cover for firing Mayo. I think Kraft is not known for making courageous difficult decisions that put the fans first.

Maybe I am out of touch but I feel like this just doesn't make sense.

Option 1) Keep the black coach because he is black, even though he is really bad at his job; team continues to erode, stadium is largely empty on game day; team becomes totally irrelevant and gets no primetime games

Option 2) Fire black coach for doing a bad job and hire a good white coach; team returns to playing quality football and relevancy; gets several primetime games; makes playoffs in 2025 or 2026

You're telling me that Option 1 is what will get Kraft into the HOF, not Option 2?

From Reiss's ESPN article: "It hasn't gone the way that any of us have wanted it to go," Mayo said. "Steve Jobs had a quote where you have 'winning years' and then you have 'character-building years.' This has been one of those character-building years that I'll always remember."

Makes sense that we are quoting corporate America rather than Vince Lombardi.

Guy has never been to the movies, the theatre, a concert, walked past a busker, a street artist, been to a school performance of any kind and not ever offered an opinion or critique, left early, etc. Always just supported. Guy is trippin' or just shooting his way out of town.
