Jackson is a banger who can pass block and catch the ball. He's got a head start on the offense (played with Josh at STL). As others have mentioned, he's got fresh legs and would be needed for 10-15 carries per game through February (we hope).

He's on the record as wanting to play for a contender so he's hungry for a ring and a championship would give him a peek at HOF consideration. What do you think would be going through his mind if he's on the field with the Patriots leading in Q4 of a playoff game? He's going to be a supremely motivated player.

I really can't see any downside to this. I think Blount's a bigger loss than people realize and Jackson may the guy best suited to fill Blount's role.

His last team was the Falcons.

Can anyone think of another famous offensive player, who last played for the Falcons, and who never got a ring and may be available?

The more I'm getting my bearings around Jackson playing RB here the more I am liking it.

I'm not expecting a lot. 15-20 plays a game. 12 carries 45yards maybe a TD. A couple of catches....good pass blocking..thats it.

He was the first Blount replacement I mentioned. It would be for 6 games, max, and he probably would see very limited action, if any, against the Tits. They could follow that up with just a few carries against the Jets, before giving him a bit more work against Miami.

That would allow it to be, basically,

Nothing (Ten)
Almost nothing (NYJ)
Light to medium workload (Miami)
Week off
Full participation (Divisional playoff game)
Full participation (AFCCG)
Week off
Full participation (SB)

He doesn't need to be great. He just needs to be good enough to move the pile a few times a game, and to do the job pass blocking. Anything more can be looked at as an awesome bonus. And he can catch the ball.

It seems like we're scrapping the bottom of the barrel but who knows? Maybe we can squeeze a few good snaps from the guy.

We just need a guy to keep defenses honest against the run, a few carries and a veteran player who will not screw up making a bad read. He fill for the requirements for the job and I think he may also give a plus on a few catches and maybe getting some first downs and more.

I don't think the team has a problem having Bolden and White take most of the snaps, but I think they want a veteran who knows how to get in the end zone or pickup a short yardage first down. Jackson might fit that well.

Tit's run defense is softer than church music. Why not give the youngster a few snaps against them and see how it goes?

Jets defense on the road may be a bit more of a challenge.

In my eyes this would be the perfect replacement for Blount. Smart, veteran guy who can block, catch and pick up tough yards. Perfect situation for him since they really don't have to lean on him.

Deus won this thread on page 1. There is really zero risk in signing Jackson, bringing him along slowly until the playoffs and then turning up his workload. Not sure why there are so many objections.

Washed up vet or a jittery young PS rookie for the final stretch? I haven't been closely scouting either one, so my opinion is of no value. Occasionally, an undrafted rookie RB can turn out to be Arian Foster. I can't recall the last time any RB > 30 years old came out of retirement and kicked ass.
