Thanks.

For those interested, here's the post draft day thread from 2020 about Owenu:

Thanks. The search function using the magnifying glass on the mobile version is virtually useless.
The more hilarious posts are the real-time day 3 posts, especially the negative reactions by people who have have never even heard of the player and/or have never seen him play.

For further hilarity, I bring you Kyle Dugger:

BTW, this thread is a good example of the value BGC brings -- he was ready with a perfect take.

And to throw a bone to our beloved trolls, I give you N'Keal Harry:

Gotta love this quote:
Michael Lombardi: ‘You’re an idiot’ to draft Metcalf over N’Keal Harry

There are some real winners in that thread. 'He'll end up traded for a conditional sixth!'

Check out his agility drills, his vertical leap and bench press... the guy is an all around monster. He's built to start.
I think people get use to seeing low 40 times and tend to forget their weights/roles. “Oh 5.2 speed, he’s slow! They’re going to suck blah blah blah!”.

I read the practice thread but anyword on how he held up individually today? Don't recall seeing anything the but the obligatory stat lines and then Bedards take on the "starters" doing ok.

This draft class is very exciting. We rarely hit on so many rookies. Gonzo, White, Mapu, Sow, Mafi, Boutte, Pop, and the two kickers, plus another few might hit. Good times, and they are all very athletic.

Wolf/Groh have been doing an amazing job of drafting over the last few years, so glad we've changed our approach up because we had a string of duds that really hurt us when the wheels started falling off in 2019

very excited about a lot of the young talent on this team, and the fact that they may have found some late round WR gems is icing on the cake.. if even 1 of Douglas or Boutte develop into a legitimate starter then thats amazing, if they both do thats grand slam. Early rounds were amazing, really wish we got a Tackle but Gonzo is the real deal at CB and if we tried to move up to get a tackle in late 1st/early 2nd we would have lost White and Mapu, who look to be potential superstar type players

If they can make this OL function this year, i really think we could surprise some people... Will need some WRs to step up and for the offensive line to play average football, and we have a punchers shot

Gotta love this quote:

Months prior to the NFL combine DK Metcalf broke his f-cking neck... literally... broke his neck in a game.

32 team passed him over for two rounds for a reason.

Just some food for thought.

Harry was a bust, but Lombardi's quote isn't egregious... except in hindsight.

I still remember the Captain’s quote about him on day 3 in 2020.

“Where is this fecking fat feck going to play?”

Ooops.

I was close. At least the grammar is correct.

I don't think it is a diss to comment that Sow did not play T in college much at all (frosh season I believe), and also played in a mid level league against mid level competition. asking him to now play T in the nfl in his rookie season, is not ideal. regardless how big, strong or fast he is, if he is not ready yet, but eventually might be, is not a shot at Sow.
everyone wants him to play very well at one of the teams position of greatest needs.
if there is any negativity, it should be directed at why Reiff and Anderson? knowing Wynn was gone, the perpetual uncertainty of Brown, why is plan A a 35 year old injury prone T, a Jets PS player and a Bronco's back up? now the team has to hope Sow can be ready.
I hope he can be.

I agree we're drafting much better but it helps to put things in a little context. We had fewer picks in those 2016-2019 years, we had later in the round picks from all the success, dinged by deflategate, and we were adding to a stacked team, but I agree we missed on a lot.

BB has certainly put the OL in dangerous shape with his GM moves over the last few years. It used to be the foregone conclusion that OL was the most consistent and solid unit. The last few years they have been one of the most unknown/unreliable units (along with WR).
Scar should really be a coach that is known for winning 6 SB's. Whenever BB the GM let a star vet OL walk for money, the next guy would just step in and be amazing. Just consider Center since 2000 - Woody - Koppen - Connolly - Wendell - Stork - Andrews
After Woody, none of those guys were supposed to be anything special, but they all went to SB's (Wendell as RG)

OL draftees 2017-22 - Garcia, McDermott, Wynn, Cajuste, Froholdt, Onwenu, Herron, Woodard, Sherman, Strange, Hines, Steuber
2 out of 12 - that was a bad 6 year stretch.
No wonder we're struggling, and relying on 35 yr. old vets.
