You really believe that Strange, Sow and Wilson as our LG's is better than what most teams have at LG? WOW!
Most teams have a guard leave via free agency or retirement… these three would be an optimal replacement attempt on any other team.

But this is the Pats, and this is a Pats fan site… so everything Patriots sucks.

Ok, let's be more realistic.

Where are Sow and Strange ranked among LG's in the NFL? Surely, they must be in the top half?

And how was Wilson ranked among LG prospects?

You have you own personal system of evaluation.

This is currently the weakest position on the team, by far, BECAUSE of the options that we have available after the departure of Schweitzer. We need another veteran IOL.
============
We didn't break the bank for a top LG because we knew that we were drafting a potential long-term starter at LT. Also, there was the remote possibility that L Robinson could be able to learn to be a solid pass blocker and be able to pay LG.

Here's the list:

Pats should call the agents of Brandon Scherff, Will Hernandez & Dalton Risner, for starters, and introduce themselves to their clients...

when healthy, Strange has shown he can be an average OG in the NFL. I do believe there remain questions if he can ever be 100% of what he was pre injury
when healthy, Robinson showed signs of being an above average run blocker. can he take the next step in pass pro?
Sow was relatively healthy last year, and the back half of the season logged more snaps at FB than at OL.
the position is a question mark to say the least

I think this is where there is a disconnect with Patriots fans and maybe fans at large. Where did Mike Vrabel the player rank entering his first year in New England? Not at all, he wasn't even on the list at OLB.

It's difficult to ranks these guys based off their age and in Strange's case health. Sow is only entering year three, last year both players were injured. Strange was dealt a serious injury in year two that carried over into year three.

Set health aside for a moment and pretend we know they're both entirely healthy. Both players were rookie starters for Belichick and played max snaps. He wasn't constantly looking to replace them like Wallace or Robinson, they took the job and looked better than anyone else. Last year's staff was a clown show, I don't care what they thought or did. Strange and Sow are supremely talented.

Who was the first center prospect taken in the entire 2025 draft? Wilson was.

If you can play center at his size and athleticism, you can play guard. I still think he needs a year in the strength and conditioning program, but he has all the tools in spades... he's a great athlete. I don't want them to rush Wilson because they have better vet options in front of him at both guard and center and he's better served as a future center. But suppose everything blows up in their face, if he ended up starting and played well it wouldn't surprise me.

Long before the term RAS existed I used athleticism as a barometer and also looked at college production... games played, individual stats and team stats based on units a prospect played on. I followed draftscout when it was still affiliated with the NFL and called NFLDraftscout. There was also a good site called nflcombineresults.com who kept combine scores on a spread sheet... very handy. Both sites go way way back... early internet old.

Schweitzer was never making this roster unless something wen't terribly wrong. He was a jag, a camp body.

If Robinson shows up to camp weighing closer to 310-320 pounds and it isn't fat... I like his chances. He was weak, had trouble staying at 300 pounds... but he has good athleticism. Strange is a supreme athlete now and exited college strong as an ox, Sow is also a superior athlete, massive and strong. Robinson is behind those guys if they're healthy.

My bar or LG's is lower than yours. I'd be 100% fine if both Strange and Sow are healthy and both well below average. We can solve the LG position in 2026. I just want them to play at an NFL level (a big improvement over our 2024 LG's). If both are healthy and playing even close to reasonably, we won't need to bring in a veteran IOL for the year.

The OL will already be improved at four OL positions. [Onwenu will be much better playing between Bradbury and Moses instead of between Brown and Jacobs].
========
Campbell, Lowe
Strange, Sow
Bradbury, Wilson
Onwenu, Robinson (one of them)
Moses, Wallace
=========
Strange being healthy would be a HUGE help, since he is an inexpensive veteran and can play bot LG and C. Being a center is important if Wilson isn't ready to contribute for Game One.

Strange and Sow (mostly) didn’t play in 2024, they’re part of the fix in 2025. Both can play better than average. The other large improvement on this line and offense beyond talent will come in the form of coaching and scheme… this team is no longer run by clowns. Even great players can look poor in a bad scheme and on a bad team.

I agree all your comments except my concerns at LG.
=========
1) We had no NFL quality left guards in 2024.
2) As you say, Strange and Sow didn't (mostly) play in 2024.
==========
Your conclusion is that these two will come back from injuries and be the answer at starting LG and backup LG.

I would like to see camp competition, or at least injury insurance at this position; well, that, is from someone who has shown that they can play LG in the NFL

We have three LG's: two coming back from injury and an UDFA who we hope will make the Practice Squad. IMO, on a 91-man squad coming into TC, that isn't enough.

At practice, Wallace was at LG and Sow was at RG. Based on the 1st practice your projections are wrong.

I didn't see anything on Sow.

Did he line up with the second stringers at RG?

I am not sure if it was the 2nd stringers. I assume so.

That's just all ****ing kinds of ******ed right there.
I assume they plan on letting Onwenu and Strange walk in 2026 (move the cap money somewhere else). I agree that it is different that Wallace was at LG and Sow at RG, I assumed the opposite.
