Why is it an embarrassment there is currently one black coach? Are you embarrassed that there are only 30% white players in the NFL while there are 70% black players? No you are not embarrassed. Me neither.Who cares? They pick the best players. Why concern ourself with racial bean counting? It is getting very old and tiresome. The Jets had a black coach too not long ago., the Bengals,the Lions and Dolphins. There were maybe three or four at one time. Coaches come and go. Blacks are supposed to be 13% of the population so 4 black coaches among 32 teams would reflect the general population but really the number would be less as the percentage of black males at coaching age from that 13% is maybe one or two black coaches. Maybe they just hire the best coaches from who is available just as they do players and let the racial chips fall as they may.

Awful take. Of course there is reverse descrimimination too. You cant apply the general population demographics to the NFL to predict the number of qualified applicants. The gap is too wide. A qualified player white or black player is easier to pick.

And also because teams are not serious about interviewing new ones. It can't be proved that goes on but over enough time and enough no hires it can be assumed. The gap is just too wide. I'd like to see the numbers of actual black prospects vs the required Rooney rule. I'm guessing teams pretty much stick to the rule to be compliant leaving other qualified prospects unconsidered.

Nobody said no black person is qualified to be on the Supreme Court, in fact Clarence Thomas already is.

If you have a pool of 70 percent vs 30 percent all looking to get a job and the 30 percent wind up with them most of the time then its pretty obvious. Now when it comes to picking out players, the best players are easier to pick out because the measurables are much more apparent

-ability to evaluate players
-commitment
-goals
-plan you formulate for the path to success for the franchise
-fit with the make up of the roster
-fit with the stage of development of the team
-salary demands
-ability to work with management
Just to name a few

There is no such thing as reverse discrimination. Discrimination is discrimination.

You would apply the demographics of the coaching pool which is significantly more similar to the general
Population than the player population.
I’m not sure what easier to pick means, but all players don’t become football coaches and most football coaches didn’t play in the nfl.
