Semi OT: Chandler Jones requests trade

The fact that you've heard these counterarguments before and you still don't understand how defensive line production on this team works says a lot.

People need to stop moving the goal posts. For HOF nobody cares how the Pats play effective runD while reducing a player's stats. The HOF is absolutely based on sack numbers and Chandler Jones is an elite elite sack artist.

.

Instead of paying top dollar for one 12-15 sacks guy (who might get hurt or can be easily game planned for) they pay for three 6-8 sack type players who if one gets hurt still has great odds to get the same production.

As was stated they also use that money on CB which impacts more total plays and is much more difficult to gameplan "out" than the "high sack" DE. But these are all known points.
I understand where you’re coming from, but it wasn’t exactly what I was arguing. My rant was on downplaying Jones’ success on another team. His potential was unleashed since leaving the Pats and people on here write him off as a “good” player while defending a recent massive overpay player as better.

Not really what I was ranting about.

I would welcome Chandler Jones back in a heartbeat. Given his wishes however of 1 more (deserved) pay day..I doubt it happens. we've invested in Judon/Wino/Wise/Perkins etc.. just wouldn't make sense to go all out for him unless he was on the "I just want a ring" contract.

I see the Rams as the best spot for him as they play a 3-4 and they are going all in mode. Doubt Cards will trade him there though.

They've been transitioning to more of a 3-4 look since his departure. Flowers is too little to play end.
Flowers is perfectly capable and stout enough to play 3-4 DE or 4-3 DE.

Love Chandler Jones. That 2012 draft with him and Hightower were a huge part of the start of Dynasty 2. Totally helped turn a mediocre and aging defense around. That being said, he’s gonna want a ****load of money on his last payday.

Baltimore, Buffalo, Seattle make sense to me but obviously Seattle is in the division.

I've been talking about Jones to the HOF for a few years now. Might have to reevaluate my position now.

I wouldn’t shock me if he tried to get with his BFF Gronk in Tampa

If he came back would he be happy playing his role in the defensive scheme or is he going to want to freelance and inflate his individual stats at the expense of teamwork?

if it’s the former maybe swap Wino and N’Keal for CJ and a third? If the latter, no interest.

Baltimore makes the most sense out of those 3. He’s better playing stand up LB as he’s been in AZ.

Harry for Isabella straight up.

jones for winovich and a 6th!

A 3-4 without a true Nose Tackle here makes no sense...Pats would be better-served, based on the current personnel, by removing the 3rd lineman (Wise/Anderson) and employing a 2 DT, ED-LB-LB-ED Umbrella as a base defense with Guy & Godsmack as the DTs and Judon-McMillan-KVN-Hightower as the ED/LBs...Guy, Godsmack & McMillan could then be removed on passing downs in favor of Wise & Anderson in the middle and one of Wino/Uche/Jennings as an extra rusher...Barmore & Perkins will likely be season-long inactives, barring injury...If healthy, Judon, KVN & Hightower (as well as DMac) might need to be 90% snap-count players unless/until some if any of the yutes demonstrate that they deserve more of those snaps...

As for CJ, I feel that he's actually been mis-cast as an OLB...Dude's a straight-ahead 4-3 weak-side DE...Giving him coverage responsibilities as an OLB besides the occasional zone dog/blitz call is a waste of his talent...He's stout enough vs the run to hold his own at the line, as long as he doesn't neglect his edge-setting responsibilities and get caught upfield...

I wonder if Belichick trades him when he does if not for the synthetic weed incident a week before a playoff game.

I think that little adventure absolutely played a role in his being traded.
