Lackluster Thornton ahead of everybody but two rookies and a second year guy?

Can I have a hit of whatever you’re toking? I’m no lightweight but one puff will be enough.
I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt because he’s young, fast and was used horribly just like Harry in gadget plays mostly. He’ll have a clean slate. We’ll know very quickly If he doesn’t get it in this year’s camp.

Bourne is not an outside guy. Douglas has the slot covered. Osborne will be competing for a spot.

Until proven otherwise, it will be a battle of the JAG’s.

Ok. I think Juju is better than Boutte with his two catches and 7 targets. I think Juju is better than the boneman. It's probably a push with him and Raegor, so maybe the cut him or get in him to redo the deal. Personally, I'd like JJSS, the thin man, and Boutte all gone. Fresh start, new regime, new QBs.
That Juju we saw last year might not be better than him below I am going with the latter.

1 - Polk
2 - JJ Smith
3 - Douglas
4 - Baker
5 - Bourne
6 - Osborn
7 - Reagor
8 - Teakwood
9 - Bootee

Hard to see the first 5 WRs not on the 2024 season 53 roster barring unforeseen conditions.

1 - Polk must be highly thought of by Wolf and Jonathan K.
2 - JJS has his 7 million 2024 salary guaranteed and is a 12 million cap hit if cut. The only praise that I will give him is that he did excel in Pittsburgh with Ben who had a big arm like Maye is suppose to have.
3 - Douglas had a good rookie season by Patriots standards and hopefully improves.
4 - Baker looks like the deep threat WR that has been absent in this offense for a long time. The Pats have had good luck from CF before. Shawn Jefferson who was also a deep threat WR. Other CF WRs - Brandon Marshall, Gabriel Davis.
5 - Bourne just signed a contract extension March 2024 with this new regime.

6 - Osborn is saying all the right things and has experience, but could be a causality.

Thus far Wolf and Jonathan K have brought in 3 new WRs.
7 - Reagor aint done much.
8 - Teak end of the line for the thin man.
9 - Bootee gets the boot.

Adios to the 3 Amigos.
Keep Reagor. Big upside, great KR from last year, inexpensive contract
We desperately need vertical threats and speed

Agreed on outcome. JuJu just is on old man knees…not much can be done about that. Add his peculiar behavior this offseason, and I see zero value in keeping him around. Boutte just isn’t good, and Thornton is made of glass AND can’t run routes (though I admit this new system may help a guy like that).

I like the rooks, KJ, Bourne, Pop and think Reagor actually brings value as a returner and occasional package target. Honestly, he seemed to be the only one trying in that last Jet’s game. I appreciated that.

Can he catch??

Top 3 in no order: Pop, Bourne, Polk

Baker is next up.

Juju Probably still makes it. (If he knees are completely shot it opens up a spot but hopefully being more than a full year removed from it shows he still has some tread left)

The rest are going to have to do some work to make it and I don't really think they offer much as competition for the above either. Boutte probably being the best of this group.

So looking at the poll I realized there’s a chance we end up with:

KB
KJ
JB
Ja’Lynn
Jalen

and Pop.

That makes me hope Boutte sticks just to have another KB…

1) Polk
2) Baker
3) Douglas
4) Bourne
5) Osborn
6) Reagor (KO return guy) or Thornton

-JJSS shouldn’t be anywhere near this team.
-Thornton could also push Osborn off the team if he shows a pulse this camp and preseason, but I really don’t see that happening.

Reagor and Thornton. Keep- We need speed
The 32nd ranked passing game needs a lot more than speed.

This pair controls the domino table at Gillete.
Polk and Baker keep- they both need 2 years
Both need 2024 playing time and rookie seasons to improve upon like Douglas.
Bourne and Douglas. Keepers from last year
Osborn- keep
Probably and probably Osborn too, but also bear in mind WR roster cuts.
JSS and Boute release
JuJu would be a KC Chief again by sunset and likely take less money since the Pats are paying his salary.

I’m more interested in how it looks like the 2nd half of the season, as it will take a bit for the rookies to get up to speed.

2nd half of the year I’d love to see:

X - Baker, Polk
Z - Bourne, Osborne, Polk
Slot - Pop, JJ

I imagine both Polk and Baker are locks to make it.

Something terrible has to happen for Pop to not make it.

Juju and Bourne have injury issues. Bourne may end up in the IR to start the year. Juju's knees might be cooked for good.

Boutte, Reagor, and Thornton may be fighting for one spot. Reagor plays ST so that may give him a leg up. Thornton might be a good candidate to get traded. His speed can't be taught and there are teams out there (like the Dolphins) who are better at utilizing speed guys.

Don't know much about the rest of the guys.

If we want to rebuild and move forward as an organization, Polk, Baker and Douglas need to be our main 3 WRs this season. And then don’t sit them 3 weeks if they fumble or drop a ball. At least by week 6 or 7 they are in the primary positions.

I think those days are over.

Barring camp injuries, I'd guess:
Bourne starts on IR.
JJ gets moved.

Osbourne (he's an actuall, good NFL receiver)
Polk (2nd rounders play, period)
Baker (might be better than the 2nd rounder!)
Douglas (has to stay healthy)

They keep Reagor for kickoffs. I hope he can finally realize his potential and be more than that.

Thornton and Boutte to the PS - 1 perhaps not until Bourne gets back.

Thornton just hasn't gotten 400 yards in TWO YEARS. I'd love for something to click, but come on.
Boutte, I really like, but he's not consistent. He'll be fighting for his football life here, even without the gambling crap.

I think Jaheim Bell has a chance, too, if they go with a fullback, which might cut down the WR room a bit.

Camp will sort them out but before we see anyone in pads I would rank them:

1. Kendrick Bourne
2. Pop Douglas
3. Ja'lynn Polk
4. Javon Baker
5. KJ Osborne
6. JJSS
7. Reagor
8. Boutte
9. Thornton

I expect us to keep 5 WRs so a lot of guys will be gone once we hit roster cut downs.

But for now let them compete and may the best players earn their spots!

I'm glad they revised the Practice Squad Reagor - Boutte and Boney Macaroni should make it there.

I can tolerate them on the practice squad but I can't really picture them making the final 53.

Like I said though they will be given their chance to compete in camp. Their future is in their own hands.

Bourne
Polk
Douglas
Osborn
Baker
Reagor/Thorton battle that Reagor wins for his ST abilities.

There's no use for Juju here any longer and Boutte has too many issues.

Cant juju be traded post june 1 to get some decent cap savings? Id imagine someone would do a late rd swap. Thankfully we have time before any moves need to be made, not in dire need of any cap space immediately.

My locks are bourne, douglas, osborn, baker, polk. Thornton vs reagor for the 6th spot in preseason. Thornton appears to have bulked up and the new kr rules adds to reagors value
