Schiano to interview for D.C.

:gif: no thanks

Man, I’ve been calling this for over a month, ever since OSU hired a defensive “co-coordinator.” For me, that move reeked of inside knowledge, as did the separate media report that Schiano would be considered for a coaching upgrade—but it came with no specific team named.

I really like this.
It makes perfect sense. Belichick obviously appreciates Schiano’s opinion and feels as though he helps players reach their potential.

At the very least, one can easily see that they share similar beliefs regarding coaching.

Look at you, Mr. "I called 2 things right". Bet you're gonna be a stallion in bed tonight with the missus.

Schiano may be more valuable to us in college feeding us good defensive backs.

I’m running through my streak like a champ, lately. I won’t be right again for at least a full decade.

As far as being a stallion in bed, that’s left for some hot sauce and a well placed finger in the rear. Rock solid for the next 5-6 hrs.

I think failed head coaches tend to make decent coordinators. They experienced what it takes to run a team and have a slightly different mindset. I'm sure Flores won't like it if it happens, though, but this could be the team's way of acknowledging that they think he's going to be leaving for a HC gig in 1-2 years.

The issue with that is the fact that all of the good ones have been going early in the draft, and I expect Ward to be another top 10 Buckeyes defensive player this spring, too.

Just imagine us with say, Lattimore for the next 4-5 yrs.

Your wife doesn't complain about hot sauce in her butt?
I guess I set myself up for that one. Slow pitch softball, right down the middle of the plate.

Sorry when I edited my post I lost the main part of it. Once I read that Gary Tanguay’s source is the meat of this article. I do not trust Tanguay. I am not sure if Schiano got the job that Flores would not be in line for McDaniels or Patricia’s D Coordinator. If he can’t get a promotion on the Pats. BB could not keep him from moving elsewhere to better his career.

I agree with your point but that sentence makes my brain hurt.

For all those rooting for Flores.... being a good LB coach doesn't mean he's ready for, or will be a good DC. Just like McDaniels being a great OC, hasn't (so far) translated to being a good HC.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I wouldn't mind seeing someone seasoned and experienced as Schiano...

The debacle over Schiano's hiring to be the HC at Tennessee may have damaged his reputation a bit. The fact that BB hasn't recently hired a coordinator from outside the organization (McD's return doesn't count), but is interviewing Schiano nevertheless, may help his good friend offset that damage a bit, even if he's not hired.

Of course, this is assuming that Tanguay isn't simply making s**t up again.

I wonder if he'll go without a true Defensive coordinator this year and have Flores as the DC in waiting and Schiano as a "special advisor" for a year.

I Don’t see that happening. If Flores is overlooked in NE then I would expect him to go with either Patricia or MacDaniels. However, Beluchick could believe that Flores won’t be here long even if promoted and he may see Schiano as a more lasting hire.

If Gary Tanguay is the source then the information is worthless.

For Schiano's rep to be damaged is such crap. Totally unfair and wrong. The whole TN booster and alums org should be ashamed of themselves.
