Once he became established he ditched the rumor hunting for easier work. Panned out pretty damn well for him, too.
Whether this rumor has any validity or not, I'm drooling at the idea of Forte in this offense. My only concern is I believe he ended the year with a pretty serious injury. We certainly have the draft picks to make a move if Chicago is so inclined.
The Bears have put the Franchise tag on Forte.
We have already used our Franchise tag on Welker.
If we sign Welker could we use the tag on Forte?
If not, we would have to work out a new contract for Forte
before the trade.
Forte had a sprained MCL. They originally thought it was a torn ACL, but it ended up being the MCL sprain. Since it happened in December and the Bears were out of the playoffs with Cutler also with a significant injury, they sent both players to injured reserves.
and correct me if Im wrong , as soon as forte was out everyone knew the Bears were finished? That says a lot about a player
I believe that the missing pieces for the offense are: a reliable LT, a healthy LG,
and an outside receiver who commands double-teams downfield,
moreso than a RB who commands top dollar & hign draft picks.
There was nothing wrong with the RBBC of LawFirm, Woody, Vereen, Ridley & Larsen/Polite.
Any avail. top dollar & hign draft picks should be spent on improving this defense,
not on Matt Forte or Jonathan Stewart.
I don't know what you're talking about. Florio is complete garbage when it comes to speculating. The only thing he's good for is compiling what other sources have already confirmed. He doesn't really find out anything directly. He just spreads what the Mike Reisses and Ian Rapoports find out.
I disagree with a lot of the things you claim the Pats need, but either way, none of them are available. Forte is.
Forte can change the dynamics of the offense because he is a strong running AND receiving threat. My only concern is his asking price.
I have no interest in Forte. Not that I don't think he is a beast and would be great in the offense, but because the cost would be far too great. According to this rumor (which I don't believe for a second because its Incarcerated Bob) it would cost us a 2nd, 4th and another pick. Plus the 2nd and 3rd round picks you wasted last year because you don't bring Forte in to be part of a committee. Then you have to give him $8-9mil a year for 4 or 5 years at a position where he could fall apart at any time. I would prefer to sign a vet RB to give Ridley and Vereen a chance to earn the starting spot in training camp. Too many resources and too much risk to trade for Forte.

Cutler was also out. That was more important.
No thanks. If the Patriots want to spend big money and multiple picks on a player, let them work something out with Pittsburgh to get Wallace.
Does Allen fit in a 3-4?Forte is a beast but I'd rather use all those resources and get Jared Allen.
