Re: RUMOR: Twitter burning up with Matt Forte to Patriots talk..

30% of the news he breaks is right is bad??? Ummm....people worship PFT here and he's barely around 50% correct. WORSHIP HIM.

Ill keep my 30% and learn about 3 out of every ten rumors before others.

He nailed Manning to Broncos 2 weeks before if happened. Just saying.

I don't know what you're talking about. Florio is complete garbage when it comes to speculating. The only thing he's good for is compiling what other sources have already confirmed. He doesn't really find out anything directly. He just spreads what the Mike Reisses and Ian Rapoports find out.

Re: RUMOR: Twitter burning up with Matt Forte to Patriots talk..

I don't know how I feel about this, I want defense more than anything, A back like Forte if we kept Vareen and Ridley would instantly give us the best backfield in the NFL, a dynamic offense for sure.

Then we should go the whole draft with defense I would also like to see Castillo get signed for defensive line.

Pherein - What does Sproles have to do with this topic?

Bob is actually right a lot of the time I'd say the chance that this happens went from 0% to 30%. Stuff can change last minute, Chicago could just offer him a deal and he accepts than Bob looks like an idiot (which he probably is).

That said I'd love to have him, makes more sense than wallace and would prolong Bradys career (Assuming we actually run the ball). In a weird way it helps the defense too because our drives theoretically will last longer and it supposedly costs a 2nd not a 1st, so more draft resources to fix the D.

Is incarceratedbob a complete fraud?

<SNIP>
So I went over Bob’s 16,000+ tweets, looking for predictions, reports and the like.

<SNIP>
On actual “breaking reports” tweets, with specific information, Bob “broke” (or Tweeted before anyone else) the story little better than 2% of the time.

<SNIP>
On accuracy of “reporting,” Bob fared much better. He scored a 29% accuracy rating with how often his “reports” turned out ultimately to be correct
I'm going to tether my optimism until I see the League Office approve anything and any player sitting in a press conference flanked by BB and RK.

So ausbacker do you think Forte would fit in this offense better then Stewart?

Re: RUMOR: Twitter burning up with Matt Forte to Patriots talk..

I'd give a second and 4th for forte and ask for 2 later picks in the sixth round, and I'd be willing to give them another 4th next year.

Re: RUMOR: Twitter burning up with Matt Forte to Patriots talk..

Forte was the bear offense in 2011, he's very good

What's with all those screen passes? Yikes.

Just throwing out a question to anyone with more knowledge than me, why don't the Pats run more screens? Our blocking schemes? the pass-first offense we run? or do you just need a superstud pass catching RB to run screens effectively?

I sure wouldn't mind seeing Forte doing this kind of thing in a Pats' uniform.

Forte has 300 odd more carries in 4 years than Stewart. He's also a beast in the passing game, more so than Stewart. Basically, Forte has carried the Bears offense for a couple of seasons.

I'm not sure brady199, but I'd hazard a guess Forte will be more costly to acquire and would demand a heftier contract than Stewart. This is where you can contemplate the mileage debate.

Whichever way it's spun, I'm not getting excited right now. What's interesting for mine, whether true or untrue is the rumor. TBH, I'd rather the Pats went after Jared Allen than a running back at this point.

What about Welker for Forte straight up.
Would anyone do that?

One of the major catalysts that makes our offense go for a running back on a passing team?

Let me think about that one.

Re: RUMOR: Twitter burning up with Matt Forte to Patriots talk..

I was just comparing some numbers between BJGE and Forte. They've both been in the league for 4 years, but Law Firm has been a part of RBBC while Forte has been more of a featured back. I compared their "touches per game": (rushing attempts + receptions)/games - BJGE got the ball ~10 times per game, and Forte got the ball ~20 times per game.

Question: Do you think that a running back like Forte would be satisfied with a reduced role here where we run less and have more running backs?

No. The Pats have Woodhead to catch in the backfield. Too bad that they dont use him more.

Maybe after a few more beers I'd consider it.

Then regret it the next morning

The Pats are a RBBC because they have no legitimate lead RB. If the Pats had Forte, RBBC would go out the window. See Corey Dillon.

Forte had 17 20+ yard plays in 12 games last season.

BJGE has 8 in his career.

There is a reason that Forte gets the ball as much as he does, he is labled a "playmaker", the best compliment BJGE gets is that he is "dependable".

Re: RUMOR: Twitter burning up with Matt Forte to Patriots talk..

Pherein - What does Sproles have to do with this topic?

Well forte is a special back, like sproles. He brings a dimension you read don't have on offense. If Brees is pressured he can screen or dump. Brady really doesn't have that luxury. Brady has to find someone. Brees dosnt.
So, I think our use of sproles is relavent. Maybe Im wrong, but I think forte is like sproles, maybe better.

Florio used to bust his ass for rumors. It's how PFT got started. He was the one that broke the Moss to Oakland trade and it was right about then Florio got big.

Once he became established he ditched the rumor hunting for easier work. Panned out pretty damn well for him, too.

Whether this rumor has any validity or not, I'm drooling at the idea of Forte in this offense. My only concern is I believe he ended the year with a pretty serious injury. We certainly have the draft picks to make a move if Chicago is so inclined.

If this rumor is true, Sproles might be the reason Belichick is considering it. I am sure he, McDaniels, and Brady would love to have a Sproles type of back after seeing what he did for the Saints last year.

Last I checked, since NBC had purchased PFT, they were more about breaking news with a lot less of the speculation that they used in the past.

In other words, you are rarely if ever going to see a story there that says "Wallace may be going to the Pats" unless there's some reason for them to post it.

They may make an article stating teams like NE who 'may' be interested in Wallace (or Forte, in this case), but they usually don't go too far out on the limb--at least in my opinion.

Any time you have a portion of the site dedicated to "breaking news and rumors" you will have some bit of speculation, but I don't see much resemblence between PFT and Incarcerated Bob to be honest with you.

I don't view PFT as the end-all/be-all of news journalism, mind you; but I don't see too much of a comparison between them and Incarcerated Bob, who simply pulls stuff out of his butt more often than not.

There's a reason why the Forte to NE story is not on PFT. That reason is b/c Florio, Rosenthall, etc likely have a tremendous amount of resources/sources when compared to Incarcerated Bob, and they don't have enough collaboration between those sources.

I see PFT as more of a "this already happened" type of site, while IB's site is "this is going to happen."

Re: RUMOR: Twitter burning up with Matt Forte to Patriots talk..

For the record I wouldn't do this trade unless the money and the draft compensation is right.
I want DEFENSE.
