Sorry but how a reasonable thinking problem can blame BB in this entire situation goes beyond anything that makes sense.
To someone that can’t bring themselves to fault BB for anything? Sure. That person will talk themselves into believing that he had absolutely nothing to do with a rift in Foxboro. To anyone that can look at the reports coming out objectively and apply reasoning to the situation? Not so much.
He benched Butler because he played like ass throughout the season and practiced like ass in the practices running up to the SB. Anyone who thinks the benching is a mystery is an idiot. It is spelled out with big letters for everyone to see. Now everyone is free to agree or disagree with the decision but don't give me any of the garbage that it is a mystery. If you have half a brain it is obvious what happened.
Well then apparently Amendola is an idiot. Because he was quoted two days ago as saying, "I have my thoughts about it because I was out there putting my blood, sweat and tears out on the field that night, and
one of our best players wasn't on the field," Amendola said, per ESPN.com. "To tell you the truth, I don't know why. I did ask, but I didn't get any answers. I can't make decisions like that, so I don't necessarily worry about it, but I know Malcolm is a great player and he could have helped us win.” There have been multiple players being quoted as saying that Butler could have helped the team win. But, whichever way you want to slice it, this is still, indeed, a mystery. All that we have to go on right now that it was football related, but if that was the case, one would think people like Amendola would have just answered with that.
As for Butler playing like ass the entire season? So your move is to go to Bademosi and Richards and stick with a Big Nickel alignment that was getting torched? Because that defense was STAUNCH. I also liked the way they regularly played McCourty out of position. I was loving watching Patrick Chung cover a wide receiver as well. Yeah, you’re right. Much better idea than just sitting Butler for a quarter then getting out of him what you can in his last game as a Patriot (which just so happens to be the Super Bowl).
He kicked out an external guy who had special privileges (locker room access) because he latched on to TB and started to break the internal chain of command. It doesn't matter at all whether what Guerrero advised was good or bad. There is a clear order to things and he was not responsible for basic strength and conditioning. Any player that plays for the Patriots is expected to follow the program set for each position by BB and Cabrera and is free to do additional things on their own time. If they cheat the weight room they better perform excellent or they deserved to be scolded about it.
And, again, you have absolutely zero proof that that happened outside of an anonymous source that Curran quoted. Guess what? Edelman is a Guerrero patient and he’s there as we speak working out.
And finally everything BB did is absolutely in character for the person we have learned him to be over the last almost 20 years.
Actually, he didn’t. If these reports are to be believed, he’s in the process of alienating the GOAT QB and GOAT TE, the former of which has helped him mask huge deficiencies that BB has had from time to time as a GM. Butting heads with his most valuable guys behind the scenes, the leaders of the locker room, over how they receive treatment outside the team is something that BB has never done.
Brady on the other hand has radically changed from a pretty private individual to someone broadcasting his life via Facebook to everyone and selling garbage through his TB12 store. It is mindboggling for me how you blame the person who represents the stable status quo of the last 17 years and not the element that changed for friction.
This is big time weak sauce. Brady has had a social media presence, particularly with regard to TB12 since 2013. You’ve been shown this time and again here. And it wasn’t a problem up until now. It’s never hurt the team or caused friction behind the scenes until Belichick reportedly decided to make it an issue.
Lets just end the discussion here because we are not getting anywhere.
There’s nowhere to get. Based on these reports, it seems pretty clear that the fault lies in the way Belichick has handled things.
