Roster Decisions

I hope the keep Jakob. See him and Stevenson in the I formation. Brings back memories of Develin and LG blowing up LBs

No idea if Keene can bring that kind of physicality.

Some posters leaving one of the best ST gunner in the NFL, off their roster. :maybenot:
He’s on every roster posted in this thread.

Boy oh Boy is this gonna be fun. I know that we haven't started yet, but why not put the cart before the horse and start thinking about some roster decisions. Just looking through our roster there does not seem to be much wiggle room when it comes to roster spots (I know stuff happens with injuries trades/surprise cuts). I'm really bored right now so lets get into it.

Is the Roster Builder up and running? Can't seem to find it. I like to do one early so that I can laugh when the final roster is put together.

Not much to add except great job everyone! A few thoughts.

- 17 game season is going to be hell for the big boys, expect extra lineman on both sides
- Taylor? Not seeing it
- special teams will be emphasized as well, Bolden may have an edge
- going to be hard for the later round draft picks to make the roster

That's a good point. I wonder if the NFL will get younger at most positions in general going forward.

Asiasi and Keene better do something this season to prove they are not flakes (both IR rookie year)....

I think bb really likes Bryant and if he shows anything in camp, he will stick.

I can not imagine breaking camp with less than 10 defensive backs.

Agreed.

I would note that two are usually STers like Bethel and Davis.

I would be OK with one more, but I think that 8 position players may be enough.

I was not sure which ILB makes the team from that list other than HT so i went with McMillan over Bentley and Hall.
I left Harry off but could easily see one of the young TE's not making the team. I added Keene bc his flexibility for hybrid FB/TE but prefer Johnson rn for his blocking. I hope we can still see some of JJ Taylor.

It's more fun to project a starting line-up, for week 1, with current roster.
We all know there will be more tinkering in August
And we know our sub packages are as frequent as our "starting" line-up but...

Karen G with a way-too-early roster projection today:

Among those she has not making the roster:
RB: Brandon Bolden
FB: Dan Vitale
WR: Tre Nixon, Devin Smith, Kristian Wilkerson, Isaiah Zuber
TE: Rashod Berry, Dalton Keene, Matt LaCosse
OL: Yodny Cajuste, Korey Cunningham, Marcus Martin, Najee Toran
DE: Tashawn Bower, Nick Thurman
DT: Byron Cowart, Carl Davis, Bill Murray, Akeem Spence
LB: Terez Hall, Cameron McGrone, Raekwon McMillan, Brandon King, LaRoy Reynolds
S: Joshuah Bledsoe, Cody Davis
CB: Michael Jackson, D’Angelo Ross, Dee Virgin

So many people are listing a final roster without a fullback, and I don't see that as reasonable. The fullback has been essential to success, any time we have had it, in our running game over the past 10+ years

Cody Davis? Isn't he going to be Slater's replacement?

This is good. Although I think Agholor is WR1, Meyers WR2 with Bourne WR3 in the slot (but those 2 could easily swap). The D usually has 3 players with there hand on the ground instead of 4. A 3-3 front is more likely I believe.

I think Agholor will become part of the starting line-up. But, with our history of imported "talented" WR's, there is no way he'll be ready wk 1. Bourne is a lot like Meyers, and I think his history in Shanahan's system with Jimmy G will have him ready to contribute immediately. With Agholor serving a specialized role until he gets fully immersed (which could be never - a la Ochocinco, Lloyd, Galloway)
