Bringing in David Harris to play alongside or platoon with Hightower would suggest that BB might have found Ninko's replacement. I hope he isn't stepping aside, but would understand if he's reached that point where there's greater risk than reward to keep playing.

I agree, I think Harris fills the middle LB role and allows them to game Hightower and use him in Ninkovich' role if need be. But if Grissom and Rivers can get the job done then all the better.

Oh yea, one thing i forgot to include in observational leftovers from today was Langi was playing a lot on the edge today.. so another OLB possibility.

Remember he has one season as ILB and one season as EDGE in college (after converting from bruising HB)

Well said. Media will be excited to talk about a weakness finally. We ran 3-4 type looks nearly 60% of time in playoffs & 4-3 type looks barely 20%. We're loaded at 3-4 DE & Hightower played mostly 3-4 OLB in the playoff run.

We'll still be thin at OLB but the team is well suited for a transition back to the 3-4. 4-3 DE looks like a disaster without Ninkovich so a switch makes sense.

Nearly every Flowers sack has happened at 3-4 DE or DT on passing downs. He's not really an EDGE guy.

I think it's a 4 man line scheme even if one stands up. We stand guys up all the time that play the role of a de.
Really i think the best way to describe it is 2 big guys 2 lbs and 2 guys who are DE/OLB by in the nickel scheme they act like defensive ends.

Yes, but he is constantly repeating that end can come any minute and he will embrace it with peace. Im sure he did help young guys this past months . and maybe he will continue in some capacity..

At one time or another in their lives I'm sure everyone on this board convinced themselves they were gung-ho going through with something but their mind or heart said "nope".

Nink has been living a football life for ~20 years. To just turn off that lifestyle and mentality is a process.
