Report: Patriots working to trade Matt Judon to Atlanta (Update: Deal is done)

Patriots don’t feel like they can compete in the AFC and I agree.
No superstars at WR no O line.
Equals last in the division maybe the conference.
This year is all about getting Maye ready and collecting assets.
This is why I don’t think Bourne, Jones, Wise are necessarily safe,
I think it depends if Wolf has final say in the roster or Mayo has equal or more power.
The Bourne signing was the stupidest move ever there was no need to sign him when we did. I agree move them all for picks we are going to be terrible.

No unless they negotiate it to be a conditional one if he plays x # of snaps.

Yeah I don't think he has much value right now and for that reason I wouldn't even consider trading him. It's not like they need the cap relief.

Its Judon's birthday today. Hope he gets a nice present from the Falcons in the form of a new contract.

...Do you think we are competing for a title these next 2-3 years lol?
In 2000 I (and also everybody else) had no idear wtf was going to happen in 2001. We should be hoping for SB next year no matter how realistic we see things.

I know I am late to the party, but the 3rd rounder is two rounds better than I thought they'd get for a 32 year old guy coming off an injury. As it's been pointed out, they ain't winning this year, so the 3rd in 2025 is a pretty good (wait for it) ... value.

How are you going to get Maye "ready" when they have no O line and no WRs? The most likely outcome is that he gets hurt or picks up so many bad habits from having to run for his life, and not having a reliable receiver that he will never develop.

I think Maye will be a bust and should have never been drafted at #3. The Pats had so many holes, it made no sense to reach for a QB, especially one that didn't face the toughest competition in college. Alt or Harrison Jr would have made much more sense or take the Giant's trade offer and load up on talent. The fact that Wallace can't break into this starting lineup of this O line should worry everyone! If that is what you get for a 3rd round pick, then the Pats just gave away their best player for nothing!

It's fine. Mayo had the injury and was ready to go the following year. I think that is overrated. I want to believe next year they are in play for the playoffs, etc. Getting rid of Judon makes me feel, nah.

Giving Godchaux a 2 year extension followed by trading away Judon seems a little schizophrenic to me. All the logic for one would seem to contradict the other.

Bingo.

What a stupid, Stupid ****ing extension that was. Nonsensical.

By Halloween of ‘25 this FO will be looking to deal him by the deadline.

Ok how was peppers career going before he came to us.. X already said this defense is best for him and covington puts him in position to utilize his strength. I like what he brings and he will have ample playing time.
Peppers was a first round pick who was having a good career but for injuries. If he was healthy we never would have been able to sign him for anywhere near what we did.
I hope your right but just picking out a JAG and saying he’s going to be a star doesn’t have good odds.

A third round pick has a 10 plus year career. Judah has two or three years left. And in case you haven't noticed that doesn't line up with where we're going to be. You don't even have to take my word for it, take the Patriots word for it. If they thought otherwise they wouldn't have traded him.
This is such a ridiculous statement. What's the average number of years any NFL player last? That number probably drops with each round too.

First you're assuming we get the pick right which based on at least one pro bowl appearance your chances are less than %20. Then you're assuming he will play ten years. And you're assuming we will resign him to a second deal if not a third.

This is realism vs delusion. The truth is the Pats have so many holes that the odds of everything you say happening and panning out enough to actually give them a shot at a Super Bowl are the same odds that they could do it without Judon because it's that far fetched.

You can either take a real look at where the team is and actually put them in the best position to make things better for the future, or you can be one of the teams that is stuck in mediocrity for years because they are afraid of ripping the bandaid off and upsetting some fans who need to hold on to false hope.
Nonsense.

When this team flushed Belichick they should have flushed his front office and his coaching wannabes and brought in somebody with at least colorable claims to be able to turn around a program. Like a Harbaugh.

Instead you have Bill's front office without Bill and Bill's defense without Bill. It's not like tree Bill has borne much fruit.

Coddling Maye is transparently part of this program to defer accountability for this front office. If Maye "isn't ready" that defers the possibility of discovery that he might have been a bad pick. That has to terrify Bill's front office left overs. Provides cover for Mayo too.

Again, as far as I'm concerned it's contemptible not to show up in a professional competition. Serendipity is the principle that sometimes you have good fortune. But if you don't even try you won't ever notice that you actually had a chance to win.

I have no doubt that this forfeiture is motivated by the bozos in this clown show trying to defer accountability for as long as they can collect a paycheck and arrange their next move.

Enjoy the suck.

Ultimately none of us know the specifics, but he wanted a change to his contract that the Patriots weren't willing to give. This is why I want to see what the Falcons end up doing with him before I form my final opinion. If he plays under his current contract for them, but wouldn't for us, it's a far more damning look for the Patriots. If he signs a 4+ year mega deal (not likely, just as a hypothetical), it makes more sense.

We don't have all the facts yet.
Well we can be pretty sure the patriots would have kept him at his current contract if he hadn’t objected. A threat doesn’t have to be trade me or I’ll kill you. He made it clear he didn’t want to be here unless they gave him more money. You realize there always has to be an “or else” in that discussion, right?

Did I tell you that you're becoming my favorite poster?? You completely nailed it I would rather have Judon given the choice it makes no sense.

They weren’t doing that because a coach like that would demand the team spend competitively. Mayo is happy to be employed, and he allows Kraft to save millions on payroll until Kraft decides he’s saved enough and it’s time to compete again.

I thought I was already this boards favorite member lol.

Well second favorite to @SammyBlueCat (keep kicking cancers ass that ***** got nothing over you).

Gotta figure what I'm going to do with Sundays now we showed our hands so early: crap show here we come.

Wallace is interesting, played pretty well in Preseason 1, by all accounts the best training camp practices were with him at LT, then all of a sudden Lowe was at LT....would love to know what happened.
