The first game against Miami last year was a travesty. The Pats dominated tht game. They had the Dolphins beat and blew it...in their QB's first NFL game.
The last game against Buffalo, for all you might want to say, was a JC Jackson dropped pick away from being a potential win.
The Tampa game, the Dallas game...
This is not a bad football team. They tanked in the end, with multiple injuries in the secondary, and a LB corps that clearly needed - and is now getting - a revamp.
Pats this year go as far as Mac's progression can take them on offense, and on their ability to create the new scheme they're clearly shooting for on Defense.
YupIf Meyers is WR4, that is actually a great sign for the offense
Parker’s contract was larger per year than these last 2 years, and it predates Agholor’s. NA’s was a reasonable contract and signing, and this year he will be much more productive.Algohor is more likely cut than extended. 22m for 2 years when parker is half that and is a much better player shows how poor thst signing was.
Yes i know parker was not a fa and cost a small amount of draft capital.
In that season Parker’s catch rate was 56% on an average depth of throw of 14.2 yards and an average yards before catch of 13. Those are excellent numbers. With Fitzpatrick.
The last 2 years bud catch rate has been 61 and 55 on average depth of throw of 9.7 and 11.3 and ybc of 9.8 and 10.3.
There is no doubt his reduced production from 19 to 20 and 21 was because of the QB.
The issue is that, playstyle wise, Mac is closer to Tua than he is to Fitzpatrick. The Pats really protected Mac as rookie, moreso than other teams have with their rookies in recent times.Jeez...his production is horrible considering he had the most incredible pin point passer in the league today....Tua Tagovailoa
OH....WAIT
Separation numbers for this guy have been atrocious:
2.3yds
2.3
2.5
2.1 (2019)
1.7
1.7
I don't know how anyone would think this guy is close to a #1. Sure he had that one good year. Catch% over 60% (61 and 64) for 2 out of his 7 years. Injury history is insanely long.
All that being said, Ja'marr's separation last year was 2.3yds, so like with so many stats, one has to look at the bigger picture. Hopefully, he's not like the last guy we got in a trade from Miami (Isaiah Ford) who did nothing for us. Based on how excited everyone seems to be about this trade, I'll ride the wave and be optimistic.
The thing is that draft position goes out the window once you get into the NFL. Yes if you were a 1st round pick some scouting department somewhere said - we project this guy as a starter. But it feels like far more players don't live up to those expectations than actually do so.The Pats now have a collection of 3 - 1st round WRs from the 2015 draft.
Round 1
3rd WR - D. Parker pick # 15
4th WR - N. Agahlor pick # 20
6th WR - P. Dorsett pick # 29
Round 3
10th WR - K. Lockett pick # 69
14th WR - T. Montgomery # 94th
Round 5
20th WR -S. Diggs pick # 146
6th round
29th WR - D. Waller pick # 204
Hope this works out OK, but there are too many IFs. IF Parker can stay on the field and IF Parker can catch the ball. While he rarely fumbles, his catch rate is nothing to write home about. A mid 50% catch rate wont cut it when the Pats are looking for at least 66%.
I see Parker as another pawn added to the rest of the pawns. You can win with pawns, but I was hoping for a more powerful piece like the queen who would strike fear in an opponent.
I know, so I am hoping they have a language where they have just loosely stated that as 3rd round so that they can trade the compensatory pick without breaking rules.
Yeah, for instance, Harry was a first round pick and has never played like one.The thing is that draft position goes out the window once you get into the NFL. Yes if you were a 1st round pick some scouting department somewhere said - we project this guy as a starter. But it feels like far more players don't live up to those expectations than actually do so.
I feel like Parker does have a pretty high upside to him still if he can fit into our system and establish chemistry with Mac Jones, but he also needs to stay healthy which is probably his biggest concern for me after considering his injury history.
The goal was never to win the division. The goal is to win the Super Bowl. What a completely idiotic statement. The Goal used to be to win the Division. Funny how times have changed.
We did not dominate that game lol but definitely should have won.The first game against Miami last year was a travesty. The Pats dominated tht game. They had the Dolphins beat and blew it...in their QB's first NFL game.
The last game against Buffalo, for all you might want to say, was a JC Jackson dropped pick away from being a potential win.

Sad how Meyers does nothing but produce but people would still rather play Agholor because of sunk cost.
I’m more optimistic. Adding Butler and Peppers (not sure about Mitchell) gives them much-needed depth in the secondary. Getting Jones back is big.Of course, I hope you're right, but so far the Parker trade is the only move that's made the team slightly better than last year, though the loss of JC & Karras is yet to be addressed. I know, it's early.
It’s not close to the same thing. Review confirms a result and makes that result official. Measuring the distance between 2 players on a play is not a result and is not game statistic so cannot be “official”.Nope.
Yes, if you take out all the losses, the team was pretty good. It's funny how that works with mediocre teams.
Not really.. sometimes it's okay to be hopeful I guess and as a fan you are entitled to hope and some miracles and I am no exception either. You're one of those people who put things up that fly in the face of reality just to get attention, aren't you?
If there was some way that the Patriots could have done that, they would have with the Sony Michel trade. The 3rd round comp can't be traded until it's awarded. All confirmed trades have to state the pick or picks that will be a part of the trade. Even if the pick is conditional.
