That's good, this was always the most likely outcome. That said, it does sound like the Pats have some things to work out internally, you just can't have your best players openly contemplating retirement like this. There was enough smoke around the team this year that it's only sensible to figure there was probably some fire re: internal discord. And I'm sure a lot of that was just standard **** that happens in any highly competitive workplace, but they've got to get on top of it somehow.
I do think having Edelman back will help, it's seemed for quite a while now like he has a massive effect on the locker room. Branch being gone can't hurt, either.
Looks like we'll need some replacement Gronkowski jerseys for those who already burned theirs.
Good news ! One less position to fill and a special TE at that....
Let BB consider shoring up the D and getting back for another SB win !!
I always look forward to the draft and trades along with FA signings offseason....
Hope springs eternal for another SB win ...
Until we trade him to the Lions for a 2019 2nd round pick of course.
According to a bunch of board GMs, it would be nuts for any team to trade a second round pick for this commodity TE on his last legs.
Expected by who?
It's a shame that Wickersham, Curran, and all the rest of the click-bait hero journalists that so far have proven to be nothing but shameless rumor hounds in all of this, can't have a few muckraker fringe paparazzis assigned to dig up every possible thing about both of them that might cause them problems in their lives, for, say, the next twenty years or so. But of course they were just reporting facts.
I dunno. Curran's one of the good guys on the Pats beat. Could he change into a sensationalist reporter? Sure, but he's built a reputation on being a solid, truthful reporter not given to hot takes (often).
If he's getting tired of all the knee hits, he could probably start at LT.
The news regarding Gronk is mixed and changes daily.
Sort of like a well tended litter box
Good news but if he has another major Injury we can bet the curtains will come on his Patriots career. I think he plays one more year Tops... Two maybe if he goes injury free, I am not betting on the latter with his injury history. Pats need to Scout well at the Position TE is a NEED!
So, Schefter was just interviewed at the Combine and said that he was confident that Gronk would be playing in the NFL in 2018.
(Hawt taek commencing in ... 3 .... 2 .... 1 ....)
"Buhbuhbuh ... Schefter didn't say where in the NFL! OMG! OMG!!"
I was about to post that article today. Good news is he's coming back. He's probably still hungry for another Superbowl title too.
I think Gronk would fit in well in the WWE. But I like him better in a football uniform. His fame will only grow, and he'll have even better 'entertainment career' choices, once his career rightfully finishes in New England.
He would be doing the opposite of stephen neal, who went from wrestling to football. A different kind of wrestling, but still...
Good now pay the man.
I always liked Curran just fine until his article a few days ago that could have just as easily been written by Wickersham. I was astounded at how frothy and careerist it seemed to be - sensationalistic is not too strong a word.
A guy I know, knows a guy, who knows someone in the front office, who knows a guy said the pats are looking at Niklas and attaochu in free agency. Like I said, I know a guy, who knows a guy, who knows a guy.
until you hear it from Gronk or his agent. everybody needs to zip it up. i for one am sick of this bullshit. he's holding the team hostage. i hope he comes back and they trade his ass.
