Did you watch the Stanford game. Herberts going to have to get better at reading defenses. But he’s deadly accurate

    Week 7 qb rankings!

1.) Herbert. Not a great game against Washington, but a clutch game.

2.) Grier. I know West Virginia lost, but Grier was 11 out of 15. The pick did not help his cause, but still lots to like about he could fit in our offense.

3.) Findlay. If it was not for his limp noodle of an arm, he could be challenging Herbert for the top spot.

The kid from auburn has fallen off by draft board along with the kid from miss state.

The new guy who has a chance to make the top 3 is Daniel Jones from duke. Pro size and arm. Only a junior, but really huge upside.

Not attacking you, but saying a QB needs to get better at reading defense is like saying a player needs to get better at playing. It's the essential trait of the position, and it's also one of the hardest things to improve (how often do people get smarter? they might gain a little knowledge, but their IQ doesn't change much).

Ya, I'll second this. Jones is legit.

It’s not his IQ or knowledge. It’s the offense he’s in. I feel the comparison to Allen is a bad comparison

Been on Jones for 2 years. C'mon fellas.

Save Herbert, Haskins who either won't be available or could/should go back.

Stanley, Jones, Rypien would be the top 3 rn but even Stanley could probably should go back.

Depending on who stays it could be a terrible class.

If I had one year of eligibility left, and I was going to be a top 5 pick, or a high pick or whatever, I think I would just go pro, get my paycheck, and would not mind sitting on the bench for a year while learning the system and while my team puts a team around me.

But thats easy for me to say because I will never be in that position

So he doesn't show a lack of field awareness?

He’s got problems like every other quarterback. But there’s a lot of room for growth with him.

My biggest concern is the system that hes in which sort of enables him to stare guys down too long

I take back what I said about Haskins. I was guilty of projecting about an unknown guy with a tiny bit of tape. He looked like a dud in the Penn State game. Luckily, he had an amazing team around him, and they won, but he did absolutely nothing down the field.

Stanley, Jones, and Rypien are a good 3. I feel like Rypien has been around forever, and I got him mixed up with the BYU QBs I think.

What about Mason Fine at North Texas? Who doesn't love a 5-10 QB!

He has the highest percentage of throws within two yards of the line of scrimmage of anyone in his conference. Great numbers on the surface, but he's relying on explosive playmakers generating YAC more than anything.

No offense but u seem a lil knee-jerky on some of ur assessments (Herbert, Haskins etc)

Both are young & really it's their first time on the big stage as draft picks.

It was obvious OSU screened them to death in the PSU game but Haskins still made a few really nice plays.

It was also the first time he's dealt w real pressure.

He wasn't stepping into his passes, footwork was off which was never great but casting +/- off 1 game is dangerous imo.

I think of it as conversational more than knee jerky. I don't always take it super seriously. As we get closer to the draft, I tend be more serious. There are just too many players, and I don't have that much time.

    Week 8 qb rankings update:

1.) herbert - no gaskets at rb, no Adams at ot, no wr worth a poop and yet he is getting the most out this team. I know they lost, but he is making me a believer.

2.) Grier - still too short, but I like his throws.,

    3) Finley- his lack of arm strength was exposed by Clemson big time. But this qb class is sooo weak, that no one can unseat him for the third spot.

Fast riser on the outside looking to make a move is Nate Stanley of Iowa. He does nothing well, but finds a way to win. I like winners!

While I am sure you have the numbers right, have you watched him play? He can really throw it and has no issue on 3rd and long making tough, NFL throws. Much more of an NFL arm than Mariota.

Oregon's Justin Herbert expected to return for senior season despite being No. 1 pick candidate
