I'd be very surprised to see Easley on the edge frequently.

Completely agree. His strength is as an inside rusher, he is not best playing outside.
He is smallish and quick inside. He would be big and not so quick outside.

Would you say it's an "all-in" mentality? I think that's an interesting conversation to have. I want to think it's just BB being BB and signing guys at his price as they are available, but it just feels like he is doing "more" this year - more powerful upper-tier (Bennett, Knighton) and mid-tier (Long, Hogan, McClellin) moves - than normal.

Yeah, the term "all in" is a bit silly and overused. I think BB is still sticking to his value system while upping the ante a bit. After all, we did see four former 1sts and a 2nd signed within a twenty four hour period.

You can count the number of times he has lined up where a 4-3 DE lines up on one hand.

And I think that trading Jones and adding pot roast will change his role to pick up some of Jones role in moving between outside and inside with Long as more of an early down end. However the development of Flowers will also play into this, if he takes a big step forward they can use him to pick up more of the rush from DE and keep Easely inside more. I don't think they want Sheard to replace Jones I think they want to continue floating him around the front 7 picking on mismatches and using him in stunts as they did last season. Overall I think the move to add pot roast helps more than as just an individual and really frees them up to get really creative with the front 7. They may add another DL if the right prospect is there in the draft but it's no longer a draft need.

I also got a sense of "all in" from Jonathan Kraft in his interview worth Curran and his comments about the best response now to the league is putting the best team they can on the field this year. While he didn't come right out and say it I think they really want to stick a Lombardi up the leagues ass.

They aren't done yet and still have a major need at RB but this team is looking as loaded heading into the season as any I can remember. I think they will put the finishing touches on it at the Draft.

So it does depend on the alignment. If you go back and look at some of his snaps at U of F he does line up as a DT in the 3-4. That might be ok on passing downs but not on a 3rd and 2. I guess he could line up as a DE in the 4-3 but I just don't recall him every doing it here.

Yes on Flowers and possibly Rufus as well. Maybe Grissom a little. Long will play every now and then.

Yep. The rotation worked great last year. Sheard was used perfectly.

Pot Roast gives them another big body in case Branch, Brown or Kitchen get hurt. He also gives them a little bit of a pass rush and can help if Easley gets hurt again.

Pot Roast will be worth the high salary this year ---I think our main competition is Pitt--they have an insane running game of Leveon Bell, Deangelo Williams, and some other talented dude that never should have fumbled the ball against Denver.

I could see them choosing a high round tackle with the idea that he would likely take over for Vollmer in '17, then possibly move to the other side in '18.

Either way, we need another tackle or two, and let's hope we're not having the same convo next spring too.

Guys I absolutely hate Wes Welker. He and basketball player James Harden are two athletes that I legitimately hate as human beings so I don't rationally think about Welker, but you guys are absolutely correct.

Speaking rationally, Welker is a good exception example and that's my mistake for missing him. I just mentally block him out as a former Patriot for the way he left and his comments about the organization and coach, the drop that cost us a Bowl, going to a freaking rival, and Jules making him straight up irrelevant (again, to me).

So yeah, I'll hold that L.

That's unlikely. If they aren't impressed with this DT class, they'll never be impressed with a DT class. Having said that, with four Quality DTs on the team for this year, it's possible they don't see the value in taking one early anymore.

Oh I agree, it's just that any draft pick is going to be DT #5 this year and the second round may be a little rich for that. There are some ideal possibilities there though. For example, Austin Johnson of Penn State would be the perfect long-term Branch replacement. I just wonder whether they might wait to the third or fourth round.

I think it's a given that one of the first two picks goes on an OT. It might be that they go With a more luxury pick with the other (pass rusher/CB/linebacker). But they have plenty of options in the draft so I'm fine with a DT in the 2nd (take advantage of a great class) or with going another way.

I am a Day One Edelperson fan but I have no animosity towards Welkah.
Yah, I blame him 2/3rds for dropping that SB pass but Brady owns 1/3rd or better for an errant throw.
Do not care about comments he made in the heat of passion.

Yea I think thats the philosophy here. Grab decent players at good value in positions that require fortification in FA and if talent in the the draft represents good value then they pounce on him.
