Post Game Thread Pats @ Jets

Come on. This is really oversimplifying things.
It's a fact. They played one game today not 11. What happened today good or bad doesn't count for future games.

The fan forum exists for fans to speculate or comment on what they see.
No it exist to discuss the team, share information, news, etc. Some people feel it's their personal forum to predict the future and act as if they know but that's not the reason for existence.

[quite{ It's not wild to assume that a playoff caliber team (miles ahead of the Jets' lowly offense) would rack up some more points on a defense that performs at the level they did today.
And football is about matchups and game plans and teams improve or digress throughout the season. If it were that easy to say one game proves what another will be vegas would be broke.

I hope that's not the case and improvements are made (& gets healthier), but I'm not going to convince myself everything is on the up & up for the D.
Again what you are convinced of is meaningless to the team and to me.

[quote{The run D looked great today. Looked good at times vs Tampa.
Except for one drive when they went light it's been excellent for 2 games.

If they're not blowing coverages then I'd really like to know what on Earth happened on numerous plays, including some 3rd & long and 4th & long scenarios with WRs very wide open, and a McCowan pass to another wide open WR that looked like he was catching a punt.[/quote

I don't think you understand the difference between blowing a coverage by leaving a player or zone uncovered and a receiver getting open or the other team actually making a play.
Other than the one oddball pay which haporms in zone when there is that much time for the QB to move and stretch out the zones there were no really uncontested plays.
You seem to be confusing the other team completing a pass with players on the defense okayong diffetent calls.

Other plays may not have been blown coverages, but simply a matter of NYJ's weak players beating some of our own weak players (Richards, Roberts). Whether those 2 should even be getting meaningful snaps could be another conversation.
The other team gets paid too.

They shut out the Bucs, then allowed 31 in the following game. That's 31 points in 2 games.
Yeah that's exactly the same thing.

This looks a lot like the 2011 D to me - middle of the pack in points, at the bottom in yards.

The whining of Eagle and Fouts about the TD reversal was sickening.

Totally Agree.. Here is what you can show them and everyone else:

Just got done watching the game after working my 2nd and last NFL Sunday of the year, so...

A) The Jets PA guy who says "IT'S THRIIIIIIID DOWN" is so annoying...

B) I am off tomorrow so I'll make it a point to search the gameday thread when it was 14-0 Jets, I'm sure there was many "when do the Sox report" comments from the GDT All-Stars

C) Damn, this is one of the under appreciated rivalries in sports, Pats/Jets is always a great game to watch...pitchers and catchers Mike!!!

I agree with you. While I think they got the interpretation of the rule right I just dont see a 100% clear shot of where control was reestablished. Without that you kinda have to stay with the call on the field and not speculate even if the speculation makes a ****ton of sense.

Is it possible they had a view of the play we didn't get to see?

(click for zoom) His knee landed in bounds. Bad call. I change my mind. My entire premise was based on him landing out of bounds. Seeing his left knee in bounds changes that. Should've stood as called. But **** the Jets and I'm glad they got screwed out of it anyway

He was juggling the ball at this point. There is a view from the back of the endzone that shows that

Well IF they play the same then you're probably right. We could be getting people back and we could improve. We can't define this team just yet
Dude how much more? It's been 6 weeks, heading into Week 7. Nothing is changing at this point. Without Brady this team is 0-6.

hmm

How long have you watched the patriots. The patriots for the last 6 games is almost always much different (and better absent injuries) than the the team of the first 6 weeks.

We'll limp into the bye at 5-3 or 6-2, and be favored to go 6-2 for the last half.

There are no elite teams in the AFC, other than a team that hasn't won a home playoff game in 25 years.

Without Brady this team is 0-6.
Are you suggesting a team can be dominating with an all pro franchise QB, but then look bad without him?

Quick, somebody tell the fans of Green Bay, who were leading the NFC and went from making SB plans to suddenly worrying about how they're going to win another game.

What I think matters most is how their play on defense might project going forward against playoff caliber teams. There's some extremely concerning, unsustainable tendencies that they've gotten away with these last 2 games (& prior), and they haven't seemed to go away like most of us expected. Especially against a lowly Jets offense. It's not a stretch to assume that superior, more competent offenses/teams will turn those yards into points if major improvements aren't made.

For what it's worth, the 2012 Saints defense once gave up 31 points within 2 games.
I think you raise some fair concerns. The defense certainly has a way to go. The good news is that they've made some improvements and look to have gotten back to the bend but don't break philosophy, as opposed to a lot of the bend AND break tendencies that were seen in the first month.

So far, month two at least seems to be an improvement.

Stfu.
The guy gave his opinion of what the purpose of the forum is and I gave mine.
Don't you have anything better to do than be a troll?

The Patsies were, as Gomer Pyle would say, lucky lucky lucky.

That was NOT a touchback.

Once again, the offense left AT LEAST 10 points on the field.

Bill & Skippy STILL don't know how to best utilize their RBs, Gillislee's first-quarter fumble notwithstanding.

Steven Gostkowski - clutch as always.

Nice stat-padding from McCourty, one of the alleged leaders (or is it kneelers?) of this piss-poor excuse of a "defense" (snicker) by vulturing an unnecessary INT. Great situational awareness there Devin.

An angry Falcons team is coming to town now, and will be frothing at the mouth when they see both lil' Elandon Roberts AND Jordan Richards on the field at the same feckin time.

Allen - One decent punt but apart from that was very poor again.

WTF are you smoking that Allen did poorly?
Watch New England Patriots vs. New York Jets [10/15/2017] - NFL.com

Other than the one downed by Jones at the 3, here are the punts:

Allen punts from the New England 27 to the Jets 38. It was fair caught. (35 yards)
Allen punts from the New England 23 to the Jets 37. Kerley then lost 2 yards. (40 yards)
Allen punts from the New England 15 to the Jets 37. Kerley returned it for 0 yards. (48 yards) (Penalized for illegal block in the back)

Where the hell do you get that was POOR? Because it wasn't 60 yards? Do you understand ANYTHING about punting other than looking at stats? It doesn't seem like it. Anytime you can punt it from deep inside your own territory the the opposing team's territory without a return or with them LOSING yardage, it's a good thing..

You probably don't understand the concept of not out-kicking your coverage.. Luckily, Belichick and Ryan understand this concept..

If you are talking about the ASJ fumble, YES, it was a fumble and, BY RULE, it was a touchback. Learn the damn rule.

If you think the Falcons are "angry" as they come to town, you're fooling yourself. OH, who am I kidding. You think you're the greatest GM to ever grace the internet. You think that you would have 20 SB rings by now..

Not really, no

And I don't think I'm trolling. You came at him pretty hot and heavy for having differing opinions. I also don't understand how you could think his description of the intention of the forum is wrong in the first place.

Imagine if there was a rule implemented that there will be no speculation or comments based on your perception of the team.

All posting would stop instantly.

Just admit you're wrong here
