Post Game Thread Pats @ Bucs

Winston missed wide open guys.....every Qb misses wide open guys every game...brady missed a wide open Hogan that would have been a TD...so what.

Apparently Romo does not consider that grounding - he was a QB.

Don't want to derail the thread so I'll end just by saying that I take that with a grain of salt - QBs have their own biases and are going to be more lenient on what they think is grounding. As an example, Brady didn't think his throw in SB 46 was grounding either.

Piss off. Falcons have been mediocre this year.

Also you aren't fooling anyone PatriotsPimp.

You know nothing. This has been an average football team through 5 games but they will get better.

I said before the game we'd know more about Dwayne Allen. It was ugly. Anyone still defending this guy is lost. He's just not good.

Not sure what game you watched but they missed more than 1 wide opened throw. Winston missed two short throws on simple overthrows, another he gunned into the RB and it went through his hands.....I believe all were 3rd down throws that if completed were for 1st downs. The D was playing off so as to not give up the big play and it worked but it left a lot of the underneath opened. Like Romo said no way to fix what was wrong in 3 days so they played a conservative D to take away what Bucs like to do, go long. It worked and they went from the worst D in football to one that is slightly below average. Gave up way to many big rushes but again part of the conservative D they played. They improved and that was what I was looking for in the D. My bigger concern is the OL. Its the same guys from last year that have given up more sacks in 5 games than they did in 12. My guess is that it has something to do with the new O and trying to stretch the field with Cooks and Hogan instead of taking the short stuff and dinking and dunking down the field. Means Brady has to hold ball longer so OL needs to keep pocket in tact longer and it doesn't appear they can.
So the defense sucks if the other team doesn't execute every play perfectly?
It's about results. The results were fantastic.
Now we are saying short incompletions in front of zone count as "the defense sucked the QB missed wide open receivers".
Brother. This fan base is apiece of work.

Great win. I don't want to hear anything to the contrary. The defense made more plays in this game than they have all season.
.

Right, I'm surprised by the reaction to this game after the last few weeks.

This morning I've had many co-workers say 'ugly win, huh?' with a look of disgust.

I'm like, I'm very encouraged by last night's game. The defense played great. Sure the offense didn't SCORE as much as we'd like, but they actually did look good last night. They weren't sputtering to the point where I'm concerned about production in future games.

Add in the fact that that they didn't have gronk, were playing on the road against a playoff-hungry team................I'm very happy with last night's result.

I'll admit, I'm not really a 'trenches' kind of guy so I can't really judge how useful he is as a blocker, but with Gronk out and Allen STILL a 'no show' on the passing stats (yup, I'd say that's pretty bad).

If you had said prior to the game the bucs would sore only 14 points this board would laugh at you. now it is an exercise to say that the 14 points REALLY shouldve been more. if we play that game we can look at bradys missed throws that wouldve went for TD's or first downs.

It was alot to ask of the defense to even have small improvement on a short week after the abomination that was sunday. and they improved more than anyone could expect. No real missed assignments and tight coverage. Even on the TD winston threw to the TE that was great coverage from Chung. sometimes the other team makes a play. If they keep it up, I expect further improvements against the Jets in 10days.

He was very good in the first two games as a blocker. Last night he did absolutely nothing in the blocking game. In fact, there were multiple plays where he looked like he didn't even know who to block. He's putrid.

It's what happens here.

Play bad team sucks and will never play well

Play well and it doesn't count because it can only be that the other team sucks.

We heard that all last year on the way to having the #1 defense and winning the SB.

Honestly I wasn't fully aware of the rule, so I wasn't upset about it last night. I thought it just had to be thrown in the general direction of a receiver - and it was, so while I didn't like it I was ok with it. I wasn't aware that it also had to land within the vicinity of a receiver. Clearly it did not -- and so now I'm upset that on a night the refs called the game extremely tight, they let that one go.

The minute is happened I thought about the Superbowl. I was screaming at the TV but nobody even mentioned it. That would have ended the game right there and the refs blew it.

Honestly, I think all plays should be reviewable - regardless if a flag is thrown or not.

You know you bring up a great point… A lot of our offense of lines have not been spectacular… But you would’ve thought that BB Would have definitely made it a priority to really bring in some big and elite offense of line men to protect Brady at this point in his career… Him getting banged up… Seeing ghosts… Cannot be a good thing for this offense overall

Brady got the ball off so fast on the burst routes and checkdowns that the OL didn't need to protect him very long. That's no longer true because the routes take more time to develop.

I wonder if not having Rowe in the lineup led to less confusion this time among the DBs and whether he was the problem.
