Pop Douglas and AVP

Time (no instant impact), TB12 and BB made the difference there.
We still have time. Pop did at least get a year with Bill. And he's got Maye. Give him another off-season and some more work with Maye and Pop should be able to up his game still.

He'll never be Jules in a million years, but can still contribute when called upon. Just not the cornerstone of the franchise

Would like for them both to do well but if he’s (pop) isn’t a fit for the scheme we “trying” to roll out, by all means let him catch on elsewhere. Dude was great for us so hopefully this years just a blip and next years better.

I know I was hard on WR Pop Douglas this season: but it was mentioned that AVP's Offense doesn't use the Slot WR very well and it shows. When I watch some of the Better Offenses I get sick to my stomach saying: why can't our Players do that?? I read somewhere Pop Douglas echoing Keion White on needed changes. It's obvious AVP is getting Canned we need a OC who uses everybody... is there one who would want to work temporarily with this Bum we have @ HC??
While we NEED a serious upgrade at OC, I have no problem with AVP as strictly a QB Coach. Especially if he works well with the new (and hopefully AWESOME new OC). Maye likes AVP, and the work that he's done on Maye's fundamentals and such has been solid. I know they're not using Douglas the way he probably should be, however, I think he gets way more praise than he's earned. Even in the later rounds of the next draft, there's better options at Slot Receiver than Douglas IMHO.

Wow! That's crazy! How similar the production is.
Yeah Pop was more productive this season in every category as WR3 but he's never going to produce much more in this offense.

Pop is a 3rd/4th WR on a good team. Shouldn’t be close to be the focal point of an offense.

I would have replace Pop with McConkey in a heart beat because I think that’s why they didn’t draft Ladd. They thought he was mostly a slot and they already have Pop
Soda Pop couldn’t carry McConkey’s jock strap

Correct! The system AVP rubs doesn't focus as much on the Slot WR. I remember hearing about how Elijah Moore would get frustrated at times in Cleveland. Pop needs to be used how Buffalo uses Shakir.

If the Pats fire AVP and keep Mayo, I might have to actually disown the team after 31 years of faithful engaged super-fan status.

AVP isn't a rockstar, but he's not on the list of the top 10 problems. Here's the top few:
1. Mayo's insanely inept coaching, and woke millennial messaging.
2. Mayo & Covington defensive neophytes. Took a top 5 unit to the basement in about 5 games.
3. Bloated mess of a coaching staff on both sides. No singular voice or identity.
4. Roster (Wolf?) - Maye is what will give a chance to draw FA back, but this year was going to be hard.
5. OL - cursed with horrible talent, injuries, coaching.

The Krafts won't see it that way... they'll try to save face with their Mayo hire.
