I know I was hard on WR Pop Douglas this season: but it was mentioned that AVP's Offense doesn't use the Slot WR very well and it shows. When I watch some of the Better Offenses I get sick to my stomach saying: why can't our Players do that?? I read somewhere Pop Douglas echoing Keion White on needed changes. It's obvious AVP is getting Canned we need a OC who uses everybody... is there one who would want to work temporarily with this Bum we have @ HC??

our former future head coach in waiting?

They need to get a guy in here with a real offensive vision. Someone who can put together a cohesive unit and identify quality position coaches that share his vision to help the players execute it.

Pop Douglas is a talented player, no doubt, but he's hardly good enough that any offense should be built around him or featured heavily. How an OC plans to feature him or tailor the offense to his talents is very far down my list of criteria. To be brutally honest, an offense that features a JAG like Douglas probably isn't a great vision.

Pop can beat man coverage but I don’t think he has the football IQ necessary to run the slot role in a McDaniels offense.

He did better in the EP last year than west coast this year.

I also think Maye potentially has the brain to be able to run it too.

However at this point I think it would make sense to keep him in the west coast just ideally find someone better and more innovative to run it.

Edit: looking at stats he did about the same this year as last. Slightly more actually.

EP doesn't need to be as complex / complicated as it was in the later days of the Dynasty years.

He was in the Patriots offense last season and was the one bright spot at slot WR.

That's right!! Elijah Moore who's got skills set similar to pop was frustrated last season with Browns offense as he plays the slot. Yes your correct AVPs offense is a west coast/mcvay/Shanahan type offense but the slot WR is based of timing.. this OL don't have time for anything! Give me Josh, caley someone with a creative mind offensively.

Douglas has more receptions, yards, touchdowns and a higher catch percentage this year than 2023. He would be more productive in 2025 with McDaniels however.

As a complete aside, I think some of us need to stop seeing a 6th round pick from Liberty as the key to our offence. He's a piece but not one whose absence should make or break our run to the next Lombardi. Same could be said for Bourne i.e. decent JAG but we need better.

Pop is a 3rd/4th WR on a good team. Shouldn’t be close to be the focal point of an offense.

I would have replace Pop with McConkey in a heart beat because I think that’s why they didn’t draft Ladd. They thought he was mostly a slot and they already have Pop

I think I'm still trying to get over a 7th Rd pick from Kent State who played QB in college, as the key to the Pats offense.

Wow! That's crazy! How similar the production is.

Agreed.. pop is. Good player.. he's best suited in the slot he can make defenders miss and gets YAC. However... we need guys on the outside.. big physical DK Metcalf type guys who go up and get it.. who help the QB out... pop and Boutte are 3s and 4s if we can get those types of WRs.

This.

He should be WR3 here.

Like Meyers, Pop would do more damage if they were in a well oiled machine on offense. Them being the first option at WR is not good for them.

They are both slot/#3 guys on offense.
