I agree 100 percent. It's just that Brady was getting creamed and could not fully step into the throw. Had he been able to, I think that play actually goes for the wall off homerun, so to speak.
You mis-remember the play. It was a designed roll-out. Brady had no pressure whatsoever on that play. Problem though was that it was not only like a 60-65 yard throw downfield, but a throw across the field as well making it over 70 yards. Considering the pounding Brady took that day and the amount of times he'd already thrown the ball the throw was nothing short of remarkable, even if it came off short.

Welker.

Guy literally put his brain and body on the line every single game and put up amazing numbers year-after-year .

To be fair, that didn't really start in earnest until he went to go catch Peyton's hospital specials.

Since we can't change the past, I think a more interesting discussion is "Which current aging NFL star would you want the Pats to get in FA to help us win another SB?"

Larry Fitzgerald
Steve Smith

I wanna say welker, but.....His SB ring was in his hands, and he dropped it. Love the guy and I forgive him for the most part, but I can't feel bad for him because of that.
yeah, but that throw was not the greatest in the world. It was behind. He had to reach for it.

Can I choose all 4? All of them gave their all to the Pats and deserve a ring. It was just bad luck or a "few plays short" why each did not get one (or two in some cases). Although time and 2 later wins have erased the sting somewhat of that 2007 loss, I remember feeling that I would never get over it. It was sandwiched amongst all the Pats wins they re-ran on NFL network this weekend, and I immediately turned it off. I can only imagine if I was a player in that game, that never won a ring before or after, that the awful feelings from that game would never fade.

I just love me some Randy Moss. Plus, he looks like Omar from The Wire and that dude's a baller too. Actually, that actor narrated Rand University.

Logan Mankins must be the most tragic Patriot to NOT get a ring.

He was drafted in 2005 (a few months after the Pats won their third Super Bowl) and was cut in training camp of 2014 (the season they won their fourth Super Bowl).

As such, he was on the team the longest he possibly could have been without actually winning a championship.

Moss.

On the last drive of SB 42, he had a step on two defenders on Tom's 70+ yard bomb. If Brady could have just put another foot or two on that pass, I have no doubt it would have been caught. We would've had one shot at the end zone from inside the 15, with a chip shot for overtime. Most haunting football play of my life.

Most of us don't care to watch the replay of that game, but I know the play you are referencing. That is still to this day one of Brady's longest throws EVER. If he caught that and ran it in I would have gone bonkers (like Malcolm Butler pick on teh 1 yard line bonkers).

Maybe we could add one (or some) of these guys to the coaching staff to help get them the ring they deserve.

Thank you. I just have been thinking of one of the preceding plays. Thanks for the correction.

Donte Stallworth. Dude was a warrior.

Tim Tebow... just absolutely tragic!

For me it would be a tie between Mankins and Seau.

Welker followed by Mankins, I am also very disappointing that Mayo had to retire from all those injuries and couldnt play in the SB.

Of those listed Moss might be the better answer, but Seau for emotional reasons for me. I agree with the Mayo suggestion.
