Who do you think most wished won a ring with the Patriots?

I don't remember Mankins in particular getting beat against the Ravens and Giants. I know those defenses had their way with our OL in general, but I don't remember Mankins specifically getting picked on. But I could be wrong

Mankins could be a pain about his contract but I loved the guy. I remember Brady once said that if he could pick any teammate to be with him in a street fight it would be Logan. I feel bad for him too because as the OP pointed out Mankins got to New England right after the Pats won a ring, played 9 years with the team, and departed right before they won their next ring

Moss.

On the last drive of SB 42, he had a step on two defenders on Tom's 70+ yard bomb. If Brady could have just put another foot or two on that pass, I have no doubt it would have been caught. We would've had one shot at the end zone from inside the 15, with a chip shot for overtime. Most haunting football play of my life.
I agree 100 percent. It's just that Brady was getting creamed and could not fully step into the throw. Had he been able to, I think that play actually goes for the wall off homerun, so to speak.

Logan Mankins. It sucks that a guy who gave as much to this organization as he did just missed out on a ring. All are deserving but he gets my vote.

Mankins might have been the toughest player weve had in the BB/TB era.

Welker was a great soldier for us. Just wish he hadnt left out of spite as it wasnt about the money clearly.

Moss always defends the wall in his post playing career. Loved how he embraced Tom's parents after sb 51. You can tell it was genuine.

I also loved Woodhead's competitive drive after getting him for nothing from the Jets.

A damn shame none of these guys got a ring.

Moss hands down. 2007 was the greatest season I have ever witnessed as a football fan until the Super Bowl. I wanted that ring for Moss after him being so frustrated playing on mediocre teams with mediocre quarterbacks. Still haunts me looking back at it

Sure Welker left the team too but he gained a stink on him as he went full traitor to play with Seyton Manning.

Seau, Moss, and an underrated pick Andre Carter. He blew out his acl the year we went to the superbowl in 2011 and lost and when he came back he was out of gas.

It's tough...probably

Wes
Mankins
Seau
Moss

Wes and Mankins were all time Patriots for many years and it blows they left right before we started winning titles again, Seau was a greeeeat dude and it's a damn shame he's ringless. Love Moss too but he's fourth for me.

I think none of them. No one deserves a ring if they didn't WIN one.

I wish all 4 did.

If that pass travelled another foot or two that was a touchdown. Would have probably been the greatest play in the history of pro football.

Somewhat OT, but do you remember that play in SB 42 where we went for it on 4th down instead of electing to give Gost a try from 49 yards out? We didnt convert on the 4th down play.

Yeah and it was 4th and 13.

I used to think that he just wasn't confident in Ghost and perhaps there was some justification for that thinking....but if that was the case why not just punt and pin the Giants deep?

Answering the question in the thread title, not at the beginning of the thread:
In order:
1) Mankins. Gave years to the team. Here long enough to make a couple of mistakes that people can remember.
2) Moss. An all time great, who was here for the ring...but that's OK...he more than did his share.
3) Seau. Another all time great, but didn't make the same difference to the team as Moss.
4) Welker. Not. He had a Ring in his grasp and (literally) dropped it. Plus, couldn't you have gone anywhere but Denver (or the Jets).

Yeah and it was 4th and 13.

I'll have to rewatch that part of the game again but a 49 yarder inside what are essentially dome-like conditions should have been a no brainer to kick a FG.

Just too many missed opportunities in that game which we had in our grasp but couldn't make the critical play (fumbles, INTs, sacks).

EDIT: Looks like a mistake by BB and it cost us.

Seau due to the tragic life he led after the SB, WOnder if he deals with the CTE differently?

As for the way he left town, was it worse than Moss? Welker was getting lynched by everyone after the Super Bowl, when their were plenty of other reasons the Pats lost that game. Sometimes it isn't about money, and despite what we all like to believe, there are other teams that can attract free agents without huge contracts.

the difference is that moss realized he made a mistake pretty much immediately afterward and has been a patriots cheerleader ever since. looking through welker's twitter feed, it seems like he considers himself more a bronco than a patriot despite spending way more time and accumulating way more stats with the patriots.
