Easley projected as a unique weapon as an interior pass rusher, and the team was in a place where it could afford the risk. During the 5 years that pick would have been under contract they went to the AFCCG all 5 years, went to 4 SBs and won 3. Possibly the greatest 5 year team in nfl history. Yet people complain about this pick.

It's because of posts like this that some folks here don't take you seriously.

Anyone with that opinion isn’t someone I would want to take me seriously.

The best 5 year team in the NFL. And you want to complain about a draft pick. Unbelievable.

The Patriots don’t have a QB.
They will put one out there Sunday and would assume any fan of the team would be rooting for him. I guess not you.

I’m rooting for the end of the season to get here faster. They don’t have a QB right now but hopefully they’ll find one then.

That’s what fans like you do.

Yes I’m cheering for the Patriots to get better for the future. This season is over. In a couple of months the search for a real QB can begin. And a new HC/GM will help.

The patriots from 2014-2018 are probably the best 5 year team in the history of the game.
They were 62-18 in the regular season, won the division every year, got a bye every year, were 12-2 in the playoffs, went to 4 SBs and won 3.
And people are complaining about the draft choice that would have contributed in those 5 years if not injured.

Actually you probably are rooting for more seasons like this so you can complain.

rooting to win meaningless games that will ruin your chance at drafting an elite prospect is pointless at this time.

its like the Jets when they won that meaningless extra game when they could've had the #1 pick and Trevor lawrence and instead ended up with the 2nd pick and got stuck with Zach wilson.

i'm not a fan of tanking. but we are 2-11 the season is over. might as well lose the next 4 and finish the job. its not like we are trying to see if Zappe is the guy. its pretty clear he's not and the team doesnt view him as such

I’m less concerned about entertainment and more about finding the next QB.

Zappe hasn’t proven he can be that, Cunningham’s college stats show he most certainly isn’t.
The right QB makes the team entertaining so I vote both. But I have a feeling that if Bill stays we'll get neither.

You are clearly a fan of tanking and said exactly that in your post.

You may have overlooked the examples of teams that got the best picks but picked lesser players than the teams behind them. There are oodles and oodles of those in every draft.

Plain and simple. Tanking makes a team a cheater and a loser.

I'm not a fan of deliberately tanking a season. This isn't the colts who purposely fielded a garbage roster to tank. We fielded a garbage roster on accident.

How would we feel about cheering a meaningless win if we miss out on a guy who could be the franchise player?

Bet the jets fans wish they lost that game and got the #1 pick with Lawrence.

Not promising news for the Zappe fanboys. Pats will just have to play the string out with no QB and flush these turds away after the season ends.

I'll say this about Jones:

He admitted that he thrives in a positive, enthusiastic environment. There's nothing wrong with that. But that's not the environment in Boston.

Mac doesn't initiate it, but he does thrive in it. Conversely, he hasn't thrived in a negative, unenthusiastic environment.

Just stating facts.

After Brady left, or we let him go, there were lots of veterans left here who kept showing up, doing their job and playing hard.

But...

Did they take it upon themselves to maintain the team determination and focus on winning that was built here for two decades? No. They didn't and haven't. No judgement, just facts.

When Orr left, the Bruins season ticket holders were halved and the team wasn't supposed to compete. But veterans like Cashman, Marcotte & Cheevers did not let the team culture diminish. The older guys like Park & Ratelle along with the younger guys followed along. Cherry had a lot to do with it, but not all of it.

It's not Belichick's personality to be a motivator, although he has picked his spots to address the subject but he always leaves it up to the players to do it. Getting hungry veterans like Cox, Vrabel & Smith played a big part in starting the dynasty.

Regarding Zappe, he showed blindingly obvious ability to make plays and take coaching. Which put him light years ahead of Jones or anyone else in the eyes of many including myself. There are many memories that remain fresh in my mind of years and years of Tony Eason and Hugh Millen (and Drew Bledsoe, for that matter), when before, Doug Flutie was here. With the Patriots. Nobody else wanted him. And he was released.

Just because the rest of the league is stupid doesn't mean we have to be. Bill O'Brien sucks. Bailey Zappe has yet to demonstrate that he does, too.

If they found a great QB, BB would be the perfect coach. They haven't found that guy yet.

The search continues, we get to see Zappe this week. I'm rooting for the kid.

I don't understand Patriot fans rooting for him to fail.

It was preseason. They’re not protecting him from anything.
Just like I told you Zappe was better than Mac, I'm telling you Zappe is better than Cunningham... you've already been wrong once.

You Cunningham guys are being ridiculous.

If practice is closed to the media... according to whom?
