Candy would be my Top Forensic Scientist...jus sayin'...

I called it on Day 2 of training camp when he could not get in the field. He is done. If not cut, then IR with no return. Just cut him and get it over with.

I got her beat

I know this isn't going to be popular but it's not like the other WRs have been tearing it up. Doubtful but I'd still leave a small possibility that they still feel the potential that lead them to draft him in the first place is still better than the rest and he's WR6.

Doubtful so I think IR designated to return probably makes more sense than cutting him.

Use the insurance and then if everyone ahead of him is healthy and performing the trade deadline would be a good time to try and move him as he'd likely be healthy by then.
Why waste the “designated to return” label, when there’s a limited number of them? Bourne is a better candidate for that scenario. Just waive Polk injured and give him an injury settlement. He won’t have enough market value to worry about trying to trade him mid season. Besides Bourne is a known NFL starter who would be better for that too.

i say start season on IR or PUP, whether he remains there is to be seen

I think his "Hands are the best" is serious BS.

You very well could be right. I'm not writing anyone off mostly because they collectively all aren't stepping up to claim that last spot. If there even is a 6th spot to claim.

Going in Diggs, Pop, and Williams were safe. Boutte quickly claimed a top 4 spot and seems like Chism is grabbing 5. Why even carry 6 at this point IR DTR one or 2 and defer the choice and save roster spots for other players more likely to be on the GameDay roster.

The reason to go with Polk is lame but it still seems soon to give up on a second rounder.

Also we didn't get to see all the OTAs and we don't truly know how Vrabel and Josh feel about him and wether the injury truly is the end of the line for them. Remember they aren't holding the past against anyone (like we are) they said clean slate.

For the record there are eight DTRs now, so it's a risk but not a huge risk.

Yep at least that got that right. It should be as many as you want/need with some restrictions. No other league has such things.

Seriously - everyone assuming that Chism is gonna make the roster has undeniable "Bam Childress is a lock" vibes to anyone who started rooting for this team before Tom Brady was an AARP member.

I don't like Polk, and I do like Chism but there's very recognizable patterns when it comes to preseason darlings if you've been rooting for this team for more than a few years and are currently able to legally buy alcohol...

I just got on board this week. No one else is stepping up and all we've heard is good things about him. I still waited until this week when we gave him more reps with the 1s and 2s and he did well.

I fought it hard too I didn't want to anoint him in the spring but at this point I'm pretty sure he's making the team. Long way to go after that to get play time so you still don't have to be fully sold but I don't see how he's not WR5 by now.

Most Patsfans right now.^

Hopefully Polk will catch on somewhere else if he is cut or traded. Weird how just in 5 or 6 months that this wr core went from desperate desolation to overcrowded with some decent talent so quick. Maybe they’ll find a way to fit him in? Not sure how though. Some kind of ir or transition designation?

What does it mean no one else is stepping up? Boutte has seriously stepped up. Pop has had a good camp. Baker has stepped up and jumped on special teams. Polk and Bourne are gone. Its Diggs, Boutte, Pop, Williams, Hollins, Chism.

Sorry I made some assumptions since Diggs, Pop, and Williams were basically safe entering camp and it became apparent very quickly after that Boutte had picked up where he left off last year and he was probably also safe. After that no one other than Chism has done anything significant.

Even Williams who's safe hasn't exactly stepped up which is fine he's a rook. But I wanted to see more out of Hollins and Bakers STs doesn't do much for me. Polk and Bourne on IR muddies things a little but you can't step up from the tub much either.

No one is stepping up? I suspect that Vrabel thinks that Diggs, Boutte, Douglas, and Hollins are stepping up and doing all that was expected of them. Obviously, WIlliams is a rookie who isn't ready for major prime time reps, but that often happens with a talented rookie
Williams has certainly stepped up is spots and showed serious abilities, including the ability to separate.

Perhaps, you mean that no one is stepping up for the 6th WR spot, presuming that there is one. Most here would choose Chism. Vrabel may agree, or not.
