I have it happening sometimes (both on iOS and on Chrome on Windows and macOS) but not all the time. Most of the time a refresh makes them load, FWIW.

Click on your name at the top next to the "Inbox" link, click "Preferences" and then uncheck these:



That should stop the email replies coming in automatically on threads where you may have replied once but don't want to receive messages that aren't directed at you.
