Philly sports writers: Belichick was right. The Eagles were wrong. The Eric Rowe trade made no sense

Not a believer in Eric Rowe. He is a young guy with time to improve but he is the weak link in the secondary, opponents know it and he has been more than a little fortunate that QB's have slightly misfired or receivers have missed catchable balls on him.

Then again he is a bigger body and someone who has uses, but he worries me in coverage.

He's been OK as a nickel you can see the potential but I don't think a third rounder for him is an uneven trade.

Not me!

Lots of good 2nd round picks made by BB
Bethel Johnson
Marquise Hill (RIP)
(No 2nd-round pick in 2005)
(No 2nd-round pick in 2007)
Lil' Terry Wheatley
Ronnie Busto Brace
Germie Cunnyham
Glas-IR Dowling
Tavon F Wilson
Aaron Drop,son
Jordan Richards
Cy Jones

What makes the above list so infuriating is that not one of these stiffs - NOT ONE -
should've been drafted anywhere near the 2nd round, or even the 2nd day for that matter. Inexcusable.

Yesterday was listening to Philly sports talk radio as I was driving down 95 back to DC, and heard one caller ranting about how he had broken his TV when he saw Rowe making plays for NE, and how angry he was about the trade because the Eagles did not have any CB capable of making plays like that.

I love the taste of their tears!

Cyrus Jones' future is uncertain at this point.. he was a young rookie that had veterans in front of him so he could only contribute on special teams... and we all know how much he sucked at that with his fumbles... but Kevin Faulk and some other guys had fumbling issues out of college and were able to fix it, so he could as well

That's a 50% success rate in the 2nd round, slightly higher if you remove Cyrus from the list, because its way too early to make that judgement... Picking at the end of the 2nd round is about a 50% chance of landing a starter across the NFL.. so by the above 2 lists, the Pats are like 55% which is fine

What team has been just hitting home runs in the 2nd round for years and years and years? Is there any team that sticks out as a front office that is far above and beyond with their success rate compared to the Patriots? The draft is a crap shoot in a lot of ways, so you can't expect a legit starter every single time

We should probably go ahead and fire him before the SB. I'm sure no one else woud hire that idiot. After all, it's not as though he's got a team to 7 SBs in 15 years.
