If you had told me after the Patriots would one take over take the Fins in franchise win % I would have laughed at you. Growing up it was the Fins I hate more than the Jets or even the Raiders. With Miami losing the last two the Pats are finally ahead.

It's unlikely they'll catch the Packers or Cowboys in the Brady/BB tenure but the Bears could happen.

Packers will have a massive drop off once they stop licking out into elite franchise QB’s. They just aren’t a well run organization and their success is very frontloaded.

3 more 12-4 seasons in a row would get the Pats up to #2. (0.570)
4 more 12-4 seasons in a row would get the Pats up to #1. (0.573)

This assumes that the other team's percentages stay unchanged.

    Lol at jets ranked 26th.
Jets also have fewest wins and fewer playoff appearances of all afl teams.

But I thought the Steelers were the mostest amazingest bestest franchise evar!?

Oh yea, they blew chunks for their first 40 years... their first 40 makes the Pats' first 40 look amazing

Didn't expect to see the Bears on that list, but I only started following in the 2000s.

Looking at the inactive NFL franchises, I would've thought the Pottsville Maroons would be higher ranked.

Also, the Buffalo Bills are listed as 'inactive'. Sorta accurate.

they are in both places, active and inactive, because...

The Buffalo Bills of the old, pre-merger NFL closed up shop in 1949.
The current Buffalo Bills franchise was born in 1960 in the AFL.

Want to win a bar bet? What current or former NFL franchise has the highest winning percentage for their history?

Answer: The Detroit Wolverines, 7-2 in their only season (1928), a winning percentage of 0.778.

That makes me wonder. In today's world of greed. If the Packers didn't draft Aaron Rodgers, and never could find a serviceable QB. Would the 31 owners push the packers shareholders out somehow and move the team elsewhere?

NFL loves its “small town team that wins big occasionally.”

It’ll never happen. Way too much history in Green Bay, the mystique of Lambeau, etc. it’s a different situation from the Jags or the early 90s Patriots

    Looked it up
Steelers 1933-72 ( 3 years of Bradshaw) 179-273 ---- .396 and 1-3 in playoffs ( 1 being Franco's catch) that would be second worst overall
Pats' ( 1960-99).......................................275-312-----.468 and 8-10 playoffs with 2 Super Bowl losses and AFL championship loss

(ed note 2000-now 219-76- Pats' winning percentage of .794)

Jerruh is trying like hell to lick his way out of the top spot. A couple more seasons should do it.

Just to put a point on my earlier comment.
The pre-bb patriots at .468 had a better winning % than the jete have in their franchise history, .453

Every season that the 'Boys, Bears and Packers fail to win 10 games, it drops their historical win % a smidge. The 'Fins need to win at least 9 to stay where they are.

As it stands currently, the 'Fins (4-4) need to win 5 of 8. The 'Boys need to win 6 of 9. The Bears and Packers both need to win 6 of 10.

    EDIT:

The Pats also need to win only 9 every season to stay at their current percentage. That's 4 of the remaining 9 games. I strongly suspect that may happen.

Yes. Green Bay is sort of a living archaeological site, the last surviving town from the era when professional football began. The Akron, Muncie, Providence, Canton, Toledo, and Racine teams, among others, have long since faded into history.
