Patriots Player Departure Pats trade Sony Michel to LAR

LoL typical over valuation of draft picks. Most 4th and 6th round picks are busts. It's a shot in the dark. But to get value for a player who just got replaced by your recent 4th round pick is decent. But the real mistake was using a 1st on Michel in the first place when Nick Chubb, 2x pro-bowler, was still available. I'm not even gonna get into N'Keal as he has his own thread

a 4th and a 6th for a 2nd string RB with knee problems????

This board should be sucking on BB toes.
Though unlikely to happen this season, hitting on a guy like Onwenu in the 6th - even if rare - is a major bonus. Here’s hoping NE can get value either with the ‘22 6th or the ‘23 4th…

I know of a few posters here who would love to suck on another appendage of his.
Unapologetic BB fan here. I guess you’ve found a situation “beyond the line”…

I just want him to win 65-70% of football games. He can keep his appendages to himself (and, perhaps Linda).

Traded for a bag of balls
They weren’t getting much more than this for a guy in a contract year who is no longer a starter on his old team.

I don’t think a 4th or 6th rounder can be a bust. Maybe if the 4th never plays I guess.

Stupid pick from day 1 but you will defend the selection. A 4th round pick for a 1st round pick 28 games later is a great deal to you.

Who told you that his knees are shot?

A 6th next year and a 4th in 2023 for Sony it’s not a “great“ deal but it is a good one. Teams are well aware of the lifespans of most running backs, so receiving a day 1 or 2 pick would be extremely rare. The alternative could’ve been releasing him, like the Jaguars were forced to do when nobody was willing to trade for Fournette.

A 4th and a 6th for a 2nd string RB with knee problems that we were going to cut in a few weeks, more than we'd even get for FA compensation presuming we were eligible, which we won't be given how many FAs we signed?

Most fan bases would love having a GM that pulled that off. This one, not so much. All they do is moan about the cherry picked binkies that work out well for other teams while ignoring all the busts, as if there is one GM out there that only picks winners and never picks busts that we should have instead of BB.

The Pats really couldn’t have kept 7 RBs including the FB. Michel was not going to be back next year. Stevenson and Taylor are exciting young backs with big potential. The Pats got a 6 rounder next year and a 4th in 23 which is better than they would have gotten as a compensatory pick. What’s to complain about?

As for those worry warts fretting about injuries cutting into their depth, you can rest assured that Rex Burkhead is one call to Nick and a late round draft pick away. Geez.

How many more Super Bowls do they win? Does BB pay him $30m beyond his rookie deal?
SBs? None, more than likely...Though Chubb almost certainly bangs it in at the end of the first half vs the Titties...

Drafting Chubb also allows Bill to draft somebody at a position of more immediate need other than Damien Harris the very next year, and that would've made the selection of Stevenson instead of a WR in the 4th round this year more palatable...

Does Bill pay him $30M here? Again no, more than likely... But he would've fetched more in trade or (the likelier scenario) in compensatory quality than Michel just has... And he would've played here all of this season too...

Pretty much everybody has reported on his knee problems since the day he got here and watching him this year you can see they haven't improved. Your hilarious though. You absolutely hate him, hate him as a #1 pick but are also sure they got raped by getting a 4th for him in his walk year.

I think that you are mixing up Bill and Tommy Boy. If every there was a “can do no wrong” group on this site it is the extreme Brady devotees. Those guys would do filthy things with Brady, if he were ever to break up with his current upper thigh rubber Guerrero. I can’t wait for their world to come crashing down week 4, when Bill and Mac lead the upset of Tampa. Heads are going to explode.

Valid points

What the **** has Kyle ****ing Dugger really done here?

Name-calling those with whom you disagree... What a shock.
Been here ONE year and played substantial snaps coming from a Div II school.

This is a good move for both sides. I think Sony is going to help a SB contender in a contract year. Stevenson & Taylor are too good to not play IMO.
Think your last point has a lot to do with it. Michel looked good but so did Stephenson/Taylor
