Pats run defense is now in historical territory. Statistically worse than 2002

2002- 4.7 yards allowed per rush
2018- 5.0 yards allowed per rush

At least in 02 they went against a gauntlet of some very good to HOF backs like Tomlinson, Holmes, Portis, Ricky Williams twice, C Martin twice, Green and George. This year... nobody like that. Maybe Hunt? It’s now 3rd string backs doing the damage.

And if they allow 5+ yards per rush to the end of the season they will become the 14th team since the merger to do so.

Incredible. What the eff happened? o_O

Can't tackle, no speed, can't set the edge, can't do Sh!t in general. When the defense faces against a team with speed, just close your eyes...

That is so sickening just seeing Teams getting to the Edge at will it's so bad that BB cannot Scheme around these Guys anymore. You cannot fit a square peg in a round hole you are beating a dead horse now with this D it is what it is and that's just bad.

Here’s what happened - Brown sucks, Shelton really sucks, and Guy is ideally a role player.

The Steelers were deliberately attacking Brown and Wise yesterday and picking up good yardage.

Belichick basically employed a SB 25 (Giants v Bills) defensive game plan where we conceded the run and shut down their top receivers. Ben was forced to go to his 3rd and 4th options like MacDonald and Rogers. It worked but our offense simply could not score.

the day the benched Shelton they were 4.43 ypc for the season

in BB we trust.........I guess
TN ran him over, played 9 snaps vs the NYJ and since then hes been exiled.

His play has been sub standard but wonder if its more than that.

All I can think of that makes me feel somewhat optimistic is the 2006 Colts and their run defense heading into postseason!

It would have worked if the offense could do anything.

Wise and Clayborn aren’t helping the DTs, that’s for sure. They can’t rush the QB or set the edge.

There is a large, gaping hole on many a big run play next to No. 90 (Malcolm Brown). Why can't this be fixed?
