Pats have WR Nate Washington in for a visit...

I'd be fine with Washington, we just really need to start developing some young WR and I really hope we can find a WR roster spot for a young 'un with upside.

The problem this year is that not only were the 3rd and 4th round WRs slow as molasses, but so were the top few guys.

This is the kind of draft where you go looking for a possession type receiver, because there may be a lot of them. The problem is, it's like spinning a roulette wheel.

The receivers this year were thin and slow as opposed to built and fast from the last couple years. It almost looked like they had stopped taking their "vitamins" or maybe the NFL is cracking down with testing. The players drafted the last few years were positively freaky. Donte Moncrief? Martavis Bryant? Have you ever had a good look at these guys? How can guys that are that built run that fast? And what did Martavis do to get a year long suspension?

oops....wrong thread

Teams cut almost 40% of their camp roster so no, no it would be pointless for you to list the players who were brought in to compete for a job and not get one
Pats seem to cut most of the WR (and DBs for that matter) that they bring into camp in FA....

Most of the ones who are fighting for a spot, sure. That makes them like every other team.
If you have room for 5 WRS gave 3 that are locks and have 8 more in camp you are cutting 6.

do you need me to list the 5,000 washed up Jag/scrap heap/WAY past their prime receivers that have been signed in April and cut in August? Or who just sucked? The list is exhaustive...if ur not wise to this, or didn't comprende the sarcasm in my post, i don't know what to tell ya....

It would have been helpful to your comparison to make a connection other than "receiver played for Pats me no like." Give me Galloway or Ocho as the examples, as that would at least make sense. Washington came into the league as an undrafted free agent and has spent 11 years grinding and running crisp routes, which wasn't the strength of Galloway or Ocho.

If you've read through this thread you'd see that he has played with Big Ben and a bunch of Jags/scrubs, and he's still been productive--he has more career yards and touchdowns than both Deion Branch and Troy Brown, in fewer seasons.

He's remarkably durable. Oh, and he knows the system. What about this sucks? If you'd rather pay Marvin Jones or Sanu 3 or 4 times the money you'd pay Washington without knowing if they'll pick up the offense, even though he's been more productive througout his career than either of them, and most importantly would be the 5th receiving option at best right now....I don't know what to tell you.

Im souring on Harvin because his team mates seem to hate him aside from AP.
Washington, Boldin or trade for a wr vet.
Justin Hunter is a cheap trade option that would intrigue me.
We know the team loves to trade for players because you dont have to bid with other teams.
Any chance Pitt would part with a receiver?
How about kicking the tires on Hankerson again?
Another player that intrigues me who may be available is Brice Butler.
Based on a article I read sounds like we are not dumbing down the offense for anybody so they would have to he smart a hard worker and affordable.

Should be able to afford Washington now...

There's a fake tweet about Washington close to signing here going around. Be wary of that.

Took you a while on Harvin, but you finally came around! But hey, at least he has a class act like Adrian Peterson in his corner.

No on Justin Hunter man, just no. I would bet it more likely for him to be out of the league next year than with the Pats. Washington is the one guy I'd really like on your list.

Honest question--how many wide receivers would you like to see in camp with the Pats? I'm thinking minimum of 18.

I guess I want to find our own Brandon Marshall so bad.
I was burned by Chad Jackson I fell in love with him during the draft scouting process was almost giddy when I saw a team was moving up for him because I knew in my soul it was New England. When we drafted him it was surreal.
I went to ebay and bought Chad Jackson autographed gear and cards bragged to my friends how great he would be.
This sadly is a true story not a joke im not trolling.
Im looking to be vindicated and find our clydesdale who is a threat to take it to the ez on any play.

With the Chris Long signing, is there enough cap space to sign Washington?

I don't think we know what the terms of Long's signing are yet, but prior to his signing, they had about 17m dollars in available space.

So, in other words, there is plenty of space available for them to sign pretty much whoever they want, although they'll almost certainly be looking down the road at extensions.

Yea Washington needs to be signed next. We don't need another slow WR in Boldin.

While your point makes sense, I wonder if Boldin would be a better fit for our offense? We seem to use more short/intermediate routes, and Boldin is much more physical. He'd also be a better RZ target.

I honestly don't have any idea who the better fit would be, but that would be a concern for me.
