Pats have engaged in TRADE TALKS for Isaiah Wynn

Wynn returning in the red no contact jersey today all but spells out why he’s (reportedly) being dangled as trade bait. The team may be finally getting tired of his constant injuries. I hope the rest of the line stays healthy, and one of Herron or Cajuste sticks, or Mac may be running for his life every week. Good thing he’s in better shape this year. He may need it.

They paid Godchaux so our best bet is they draft a Seymour.

I’m not surprised it didn’t happen but I really wanted them to trade up to get Jordan Philips, it would have made them a dominant run defense, and freed up Barmore to go after the QB.

Did you mean Jordan Davis? If so, I agree.

PFF had him ranked as the 11th best tackle in 2020...he may not elite but he certainly above average.
If Belichick believed that this was "certain" there would be no talk of a trade.

If that's the case I get it but yea that group is now under a microscope and one season ending injury away from being a mash squad all year.

I would have preferred we traded him during the draft but oh well.

Also only 30% of picks sign a second contract with the team that drafted them but we absolutely have to hit on this last class. I'm sick of not seeing top 30-60 guys leave or bust man. I know everyone has bust but Bill has been doing this for 50 years total experience.

Start trading up for surer prospects you feel better about or trade for proven stars.

He has an injury history, they have other cheaper options in Onwenu or Cajuste… there are numerous factors at play in a potential trade.

Yeah such as we might have to pay half of that $11Mill salary.

This only makes any sense if they are bringing someone in as the lack of quality depth on the line is an issue. Losing Wynn even with his injury history leaves them light. Also not sure who would take him given his injury history

The injuries have been disappointing but he has been a solid starter anytime he has been healthy. Hardly a bust… not even close to a bust.

Jason Smith, Tony Mandarich… these are offensive line draft busts. Guys who don’t play because they suck.

The Patriots offense last year ranked 6th in the NFL in points scored with a rookie QB with worse personnel around him… but you think “mediocre” in 2022 sounds reasonable if they’re healthy… hyperbole much?
Remember, Sam Bam is a complete idiot

PFF had Wynn with a grade of 74.9 last year. That is mid range for starter quality. So yes he is OK if he were not getting injured all the time.
He is in last year of contract and I would be shocked if he would fetch anything beyond a 5th rounder.

Sam Bam them are fighting words I would settle for 3rd or a 4th.

At this point that’s just a waste of the cap money
The cap rolls into next season. I don't see us being a legit SB contender this year, I'm okay just rolling the savings into next year when we have way more cap space and should be more competitive year 3 of Mac.

Im not. We were we a legitimate SB contender in 2001? How about 2003 after a 9-7 turd of a season.
Were we in 2014 after not having won one in 10 years?
You cannot give up on the season before it starts. 10 mill if cap room pushed into next year is all but meaningless.

It's not giving up if we have a tackle we feel good about plugging in for Wynn. At this point, not sure we do. If we do, I'm all for trading Wynn and saving some cap space.

I still would have preferred signing Karras to a multi year deal and trading Wynn. Would have been Brown-Strange-Andrews-Karrras-Onwenu. Karras would have made 3M less than Wynn this year, cheaper OL and more durable than the one we have now.

I remember when he was drafted, i did some research and found out he was, by far, the smallest T in the league

At his best, he was pretty good, but he never maintened that for more than one or two games, then he has all the injuries...

If you hadn't traded Shaq Mason (Still don't understand it), he would be a easy trade cut. Now? Man, I know we are in for a risky season, but a makeshift OL protecting our 2nd year Franchise QB, without Scar behind it AND all the struggles we've been hearing....

I'd rather keep him, EVEN if he loses his spot for Cajuste or whomever during the season, I think this is the one position we really can't fudge around with much
I didn't give a crap that he was 295 and not 345. Every year the outside pass rushers get smaller and smaller Most now run in the 230-45 range. The premium for today's OT's is athleticism. How good are their feet. Coming out of college Wynn was the best athlete of all the high end OT's

Haven't seen too much of that unfortunately.

We are a much better OL with Onwenu-Wynn than Karras-Wynn, certainly more than 3 mill better.

We do not have a 6th OL on the roster that wouldn’t be a cross your fingers long shot hope.

@10m per year, Wynn is overpaid. He's never shown himself to be anything more than bang average at best. And he's so injury prone you can't even count on him to be in the starting lineup. I'm not surprised by this move. The Pats practically gave away Shaq Mason to Tampa Bay, he was a better player than Wynn, and he was making 7.3m against the cap.
