Pats angling to get picks back?

If we don't get those picks back and we prevail on appeal (as expected), we need some form of restitution-- starting with Goodell's immediate resignation. I dunno, maybe compensatory picks?
We're supposedly getting 4 this year, but most likely won't get jack next year.

The only thing that would carry weight would be 31 personal phone calls from Kraft telling each of the other owners that this was a screw job and finding out where the stand, and letting them know that it could happen to them as it has to the Pats and Saints.... and it would carry weight only IF
they then called Goodell and told him, "enough is enough, end the witchhunt".
It would force the owners to let Kraft know where they stand and let him know how man of the "32 above all" actually have his back. Likely few.....

It's past time that the Pats go on the offensive. Kraft must know which teams are the ones who are pushing for the Pats to be punished in spite of their being no violation. It's time to start filing official complaints with the NYJFL against those teams.
Agreed. Now is a perfect time. Combine is over after this weekend. FA starts the 7thish (officially the 9th). Anything going on in between then to keep the NFL in the spotlight? Oh, yeah, there's this little court case going on.

I think this would be an excellent time to go on the offensive. Not taking away from the game at this point. Hopefully the NYJLO is about to get some more bad pub this week as bored football writers look for a story. Next week will be the FA frenzy.

Haven't checked myself in awhile, but I'll take your word for it @robertweathers since you seem to be a consistent and rational poster. The article kind of suggested otherwise but it's time I poked around there again anyway to see for myself.
A couple of articles a month and some nuggets of info every now and then...nothing daily.

Those picks are never coming back.
It's like one of things like when an ex-girlfriend steals something you really cherish, like some old bass that wasn't really worth much and meant nothing to her but it happened to be the first musical instrument you ever bought with money you earned yourself from your first job as a paperboy when you were 10 and you just hate that b!*(h now more than any human on the planet even though you didn't even really like her that much when you were together.

Or something to that effect with my random anology.

That's kind of how I feel about Roger is what I guess I'm getting at. This is kind of my way of spray painting horrible things about her...um, him.. in public places.

Maybe Kraft is using the site to help get owners on board ...
if he gets a majority of owners on his side then Goodell's hand will be forced.
The way to get the picks back is through owners pressure on Goodell IMO.
Clearly evidence ... logic and fairness with the NFL office is futile.
they'll never get the majority. would be nice, though, if they could get one or two important owners, like....well...um...Robert Kraft on board, but he gave up the fight a long time ago...

That is what he was supposed to do in May.

BS, Kraft is gonna angle his face 45 degrees down straight to Goodell's stuff, and bend the knee again.

I agree with that course of action. Unfortunately, the Patriots have tried it in the past and the league has shown that they won't make a big deal about infractions by other teams. While not a formal complaint, the Patriots did eject a Jets camera crew from an unauthorized location in 2006. The league took no action. In 2009, they did formally complain about a Jets employee tampering with footballs. The NFL suspended that employee for an unknown amount of time, took no action against the team or any players, and buried the incident so deep, no one heard about it for 6 years. Last year, the Jets owner tampered with Darrelle Revis. Even though the tampering occurred in public, was almost a word for word recitation of the example of tampering from the NFL rule book, the Jets succeeded in signing Revis, and the organization has a history of tampering, the league chose to hand down a punishment that was lighter than the normal penalty for that infraction.

I wish we had more information about all of these incidents. I can almost understand not making a big deal publicly about the league ignoring infractions by other teams or letting them off lightly. What I don't get is the apparent thinking that they (the Patriots) would also get the "slap on the wrist" treatment. The NFL's pattern of behavior has been the opposite of that.

Having said all that, there's no reason to stop filing legitimate complaints, if only to show the league's inconsistent punishments and double standard.

I expect the league to give the 4th rounder back. They can do that without admitting any kind of error. And the quid pro quo would probably be yet more bendover kinds of PR.

People here seem to overlook the fact that there are owners who are pissed that we didn't get a harsher punishment.

The idea of getting the majority of owners to side with the (supposedly) cheating Patriots and returning high round draft picks is flat out absurd. It will never happen. As you said, the closest they'd ever get would be to hope that 1-2-3 influential owners would pressure Goodell on behalf of the Patriots, and that Goodell would then somehow hold their opinions higher than the other 28-29 owners. That seems like quite a fantastical scenario.

I don't know how any rational posters here can honestly consider how the team could try and get the punishment reversed when the decision has already been made, the timeframe for appealing was long gone before Memorial Day, and, wait for it.....there's currently an open court case where the NFL is rumored to be willing to take it all the way to the Supreme Court, should they lose again.

League meetings are March 20-23. No ones invented a time machine to go back and change the past so dwelling on it is pointless. The opportunity to do something now is sitting in front of them and the public conscience has swung decidedly in the opposite direction since May of last year.

Those Jets examples show the bias that exists within the NYJFL, and I expect that to continue as long as Fraudger and the Jetsons have control. It wouldn't stop me from filing charges against teams like Indy, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Dallas though. Any team that has taken shots at the Pats or worked against them would be my targets.

I can't believe that there are 28-29 owners who truly believe that anything illegal happened in 2015. The Wells "report" proved that. If there are that many opposed to the Pats it's because they want to take them down a notch on the field because they keep winning.

I do agree though that the picks are long gone. I never once thought that the Pats had any chance of getting them back. I still think they can go on the offensive against the teams that insist on defaming the Pats.

There are those who really believe that Goodell will reverse his decision, do not see it at all no matter the outcome of Brady's Court Hearing.. decisions have been made and for Goodell to reverse himself would make him look weak or indecisive..

The owners like this decision and anything contrary to this decision will be interpreted by the billionaire boys club will look like Goodell is enabling the most successful franchise of all time.. nothing would make that club happier than a 4 - 12 season.. the Pats do not fit the "parity" narrative..

Thinking this will happen is just more false hope..

Despite not having a first round pick this team will win between 12-13 games again next year..
