I don’t doubt the offense is shaky but these reporters are doing a poor job of communicating what the problems are. Most of them just say the offense looks out of sync without attempting to identify the issue. Some others have pinpointed the OL (which is the sense I’m getting).

But there are a lot of murmurs without much specificity. How much of it is Mac? The OL? The play calls? Communication?

It’s just really hard to know right now. If there truly are some serious problems that are beginning to become evident internally, I hope BB is swift to take action. I don’t want Joe Judge near Mac Jones and we need a competent OL coach (hasn’t felt like we’ve had one since Popovich got the boot last season because he refused a COVID vaccination).

No, they're not.

Patriots No. 1 offense today has been distressingly bad. Run stuffs. Aborted plays. Would-be sacks. Distress lobs into traffic just to get ball out. Beginning to feel it’s less the new offense and more the post-Scar cycle of OL coaches. They are perpetually overwhelmed.

"When they get to 11-on-11s and the OL & DL comes onto the field... it all falls apart. It blows up" @tomecurran & @philaperry discuss what they saw from the Patriots offense today

Probably varying degrees of all of that. We know the offensive line is struggling…it’s been mentioned universally by all reporters. But Mac has been holding the ball often for too long. So is that him, the WR’s or both. Probably a little bit of everything. It’s new… it will take some time.

They have until tomorrow to figure it out.

The Patriots offensive line has been really bad in 11v11s. Multiple sacks, run stuffs and pressures that force quick throws or ruin plays. It’s not good right now.

David Andrews said it’s “a little of everything” when asked what was going wrong with the offense

There's not sugarcoating it. This was a brutal practice for the Patriots offense. The offense line could run block or pass block. We saw more miscommunication. The frustration was clear. Day 10 was a horror show for Mac Jones and his group.

O-line isn't blocking, WRs aren't separating. Run stuffs, pressure, desperate Mac. It's *bad.*

I guess we know who has me on ignore

Let’s see how they do in a preseason game. Suck and they suck. Light it up and it’s just a preseason game. Can’t win

Why is @Deus Irae posting stuff that was already posted 3 hours ago? If you are going to put someone on ignore, at least double check that you are not posting duplicate material already posted by the person you have on ignore…

Instant reaction from 49ers camp on Mac’s struggles:

I think it was more the league terminated the Contract since it was who mandated that NFL Coaching Staffs had to be vaccinated. Firing Cole Popovich was a huge mistake.
Agreed.
I further mentioned what Dante said about the outside zone blocking. I also have been worried since they didn't bring in a dedicated guy for the offensive line. I didn't want to put all the blame on Bricillo since Yates had worked with Lions and Patricia the previous year. But at some point we have to start questioning whether he can coach up the players on the O-line the way that is needed. They cut Corwin Brown after 1 season way back when. Guglielmo only last for 2 years after Dante's 1st retirement.
Zone blocking isn't necessarily easy to learn either

I wish Belichick had taken a wider look at good offensive coaches including the line rather than putting Patricia in charge. We have coaches in place that are here based more on their relationship to Belichick than their coaching ability.

Their relationship with Belichick is BECAUSE OF their coaching ability.

It seems like all 3 QBs were getting picked, and of course there were all the sacks. So that argues for the OLine having really substantial problems. It's also pretty apparent from what we're reading here that Mac seems to be having trouble right now and the last few days. Though the real question, is he especially bad compared with Zappe--using Z as the control group--is another question.
Okay, every day can't be the best day. Or even a good day. Maybe it's within the realm of Andrews-pep-talk fixing. That's me not giving in to despair too quickly.
