...which will make it harder to Maccept the inevitable when Cam starts.
I don't think BB will swap 'em because the kid was fire today. Just a guess. I think Cam has to really foul up during the regular season. Just one man's opinion. I do think this is a big step in the direction that Mac is the guy. I also think Bill is going to defer to the vet 10/10.

It's really just a question of when at this point. I am sticking to the opinion that Cam is gonna get dinged and Mac will sieze the day, much like he did today.

Joe Judge:
They really should have picked Mac themselves. If Giants had taken Haskins, at least they could have moved on by now.

The Mac hype intensifies.

I like having Bolden here. He is the kind of back that can do everything well and fill in with every spot. He can catch some, run for speed, run for power, run with a little quickness. Very much a jack of all trades master of none kind of guy that you like to have in reserve. Add in his STs value and leadership and he is a good guy to round out pretty much any team's 53.

He killed us when we played down in Miami back in 2019....

Always made me wonder why we didn't start him more often.

If anybody is interested, Felger and Mazz are breaking down the five Mac misses from 2-6.
The BB-haters want Mac to fail so bad they can taste it.

I'm very much on the start Mac week 1 bandwagon. The rookie contract is just too important to waste. And the first year is generally a learning experience anyway. Something probably will happen at some point to open the door for Mac, but what is it doesn't? Should we be prepared for the possibility he sits all year? I'm not. BB shouldn't allow the possibility to exist either.

We also need to remember as a general rule. A QBs first year of playing in the NFL and going into the playoffs almost always ends in a loss, even for the best ones. The difference here may well be between a 3 year to 4 year championship window. That is a 33% difference, which is huge.
I can't remember what show I heard the following on yesterday, but it stated something to the effect that only 7 of the last 31 QBs taken in the first round played as above average QBs in their rookie seasons, based on whatever metric(s) being used.

The question is this. At this point, injuries aside, it is becoming clear Mac Jones is going to likely be a franchise guy. What do you do if he is Kirk Cousins or Stafford instead of that next level up? Do you have the guts to trade him or do we hold on to him in QB pergatory and stay competitive once his rookie contract is up? We have all pointing out the folly of teams in the past that pay top money for 2nd tier QBs. But would you really be okay walking away from Jones if he turns out to be one of those guys and trying our luck again?

I would personally, but I know I'm in the minority on that. I'm hoping against hope the Patriots can beat the statistical odds and get another HOF level QB, (not Brady level obviously, but even a Favre or Kelly level would be wonderful). It doesn't happen often. A question more for down the road, but one I'm already starting to ponder, as it isn't about if he will be good, but how good?

Waaayyy too early for that talk...

Besides, I think BB could win with Cousins/Stafford level QB's.

James Bradberry is a Pro Bowl cornerback btw.

Jones has brass balls.

I’m a HUGE Mac Jones fan. And I’m really excited about his progress. He realizes his mistakes and corrects them. Today the excitement got amped up after this practice against the Giant’s 1’s. But I think I’m gonna tone down my own excitement a little. Very happy he’s been really good all throughout training camp, and getting better each day. But let’s see what happens when he faces the real deal when he finally gets his chances in the regular season.

I will say this, I can’t ever remember a Patriot’s rookie QB playing this well in training camp (AND the preseason games). And I’ve been a fan since 1975. Yes Brady gave something to Belichick to think about in training camp 2001, but that was Brady’s 2nd camp.
