Patriots Trade For Rams WR Greg Salas

Shiancoe should probably pick up the pace. The Rams just released another of Josh's former players, TE Michael Hoomanawanui, selected in the 5th round in 2010.

Veteran Pro Bowl players who have previously played with this organization deserve the right to a roster spot.

Players who have previously played with this organization that have earned the trust of the organization deserve the right to a roster spot.

Can't make the club from the tub especially when that unknown entity can't even find the practice field.

In other words, you're just making this up as you go along, and you don't actually have a problem with double standards. You just have a problem with a specific player and are trying to couch it in something more than that.

Not everyone on the roster is a 32 year old backup JAG tight end nursing an injury.

Did Shianco steal your lunch money or something?

Possible motivation should not trump preferential treatment with regard to injured newcomers.

You are totally missing the point.
You are saying that BB gave preferential treatment to Shiancoe over Gaffeny.
I am saying he did not, because the situations are incredibly different.

If you think it was simply a double standard, what motivation could BB possibly have for making that decision?

In other words, you entire argument is foolish because there is no motivation for him to act in the way you are pretending he did.

What does that have to do with your ridiculous comment that there is something wrong with the player because he wouldn't try to find another job if he was cut?

You clearly have no clue what type of player he is either.

I guess Daniel Fells is not up to your standards as the backup tight end for the New England Patriots. Four tight ends on the 53 man roster is overkill especially when the fourth one can't even find the practice field. Take into account another tight end on PUP and another on the practice squad, the New England Patriots currently have six tight ends under contract.

In 2006 they had five punters on contract at the end of the season (Miller, Walter, Sauerbrun, Baugher, Malone). What's your point?

I have a specific issue with injured newcomers to the New England Patriots who did not earn a roster spot with their lack of attendance/performance on the practice field/preseason games.

No, you have a specific issue with Schiancoe, and you're being ridiculous about it. You have absolutely no idea whether or not he 'earned' a spot, precisely because of what you claim meant that he didn't earn a spot.

Shiancoe can't find the practice field, can't find the football field.

That means nothing on its own. How often does this all have to be explained to you?

That didn't seem enough for this vendetta. I asked about possible pets getting run over or girlfriends getting banged but he would neither confirm nor deny either.

Although the second seems plausible. Maybe he found Shiancoe and his girlfriend trying to make the club in the tub?

Is there any way we could have a discussion only version of threads like this one, and then have a mirror thread for the arguments? I like a little back and forth but trying to sift through this string looking for observations and insights on Salas was like searching for a nanochip in a mile wide haystack.

I'm not kidding - it would be great to have mirror threads. People could pick away at each other endlessly in undecided heated debate, while those just looking for great posts like the one I read (page 22? - there are 36+ pages at this point on a minor trade that select group has turned into an I'm right, you're wrong, I'm more aware, you're missing point wrestlefest that is totally cool if that's what you want) could read about the topic uninterrupted by angst.

I've been on both sides. But I wish I had been able to find more of the cool info I did without scanning dozens of macho assertions in between. I'm not saying there's no place for that kind of juice and energy, I'm thinking it'd be cool to have two version of popular threads. One for gaining insight and details, and one for laying down the law!

Silvestro >>>> Shiancoe

I must have missed those 23 TD's that Silvestro has scored in this league. Oh wait, he scored one in a preseason game while Shiancoe sat around nursing his injuries.

As one of the guilty parties I will apologize. I will give you a quick rundown.

Salas will look like highway robbery by the middle of the season. Rams fans are pissed he's gone, Josh McD has a history with him and let's face it, Jeff Fisher is an arrogant a-hole.

Furthermore he deserves a spot far more than Shiancoe who is in a tub and can replace Hernandez when we go to 5 WR.
