Patriots Sign WR Kenny Britt (Edit)

I wouldn't mind seeing someone suck like that for the rest of the season
Being a 1000yd receiver with a rookie Qb and a moron for a HC is a pretty solid accomplishment.

What the hell are you talking about? You’re just trying to be argumentative.

Floyd caught around 30 balls in ARZ through all but three games of last season. He sucked.

He’s gone on to catch 9 balls in MIN since he left here.

What about this is “opinion?” It’s a fact that he’s sucked in the past two years. Anyone would state that.

Floyd was the #3 WR in ARZ for 4 of his 5 seasons there, catching 40-50 passes for 550 to 850 yds. That would suck for a #1 WR, but not so much for the #3. It's more or less what the #3 WR on the Pats often contributes.

Anyway, in Floyd's other season, he was their #2, and caught 65 for 1041 yds.

I disagree. Cooks, Edelman, Hogan, Mitchell is a really really good (and fairly inexpensive) top 4. Would be nice to keep Amendola after this year too, not sure if they do. Say Britt replaces Dola on the depth chart. Do they really need to invest in a 6th WR? Or do you think that they’ll easily be able to acquire a receiver that will perform better than one of the above receivers?

It's not just about 2018, though. It's also about aging pass-catchers and having capable WRs/TEs who have experience in the Pats' system going into 2019.

Amendola is 32.
Edelman turns 32 in May.
Bennett turns 31 in March.
Hogan turns 30 next October.
Britt turns 30 next September.

Meanwhile ... Cooks, Dorsett, Mitchell, McCarron and both Hollisters turn just 25 in 2018.

I expect that there will be at least a couple UFAs (at +/- $3.0M apy), a bunch of UDFA and possibly a mid-round draft pick on the 90-man roster next off-season to compete for a spot on the 53-man.

Nice straw man.
However the answer is obvious
Edelman
Cooks
Hogan
Mitchell
Amendola.
Right, because those guys offer the kind of size and physical presence that’s normally seen in a first round talent like Michael Floyd, especially one who came here at the end of the season and mastered it like you claim.

Oh, and by the way, Cooks wasn’t even here when Floyd went elsewhere, and Amendola’s situation was still up in the air. The bottom line is that if Bill Belichick even agreed with 10% of what you’re claiming, he’d have retained Floyd on a cheap deal.

By the way here is an example of facts

So FACTS are you are wrong and both players were acquired before Floyd went anywhere.

Floyd was the #3 WR in ARZ for 4 of his 5 seasons there, catching 40-50 passes for 550 to 850 yds. That would suck for a #1 WR, but not so much for the #3. It's more or less what the #3 WR on the Pats often contributes.

I think we all know that Floyd was good at one point and that they expected him to take over as the WR1 for Fitzgerald, but we’re talking about the past two years.

In 2016, he played poorly for Arizona, catching only 33 balls. Since then, he caught a few balls here and then went on to Minnesota to catch 9 more passes. His last two years have sucked due to poor play and off the field issues. If he was 1/4 of the player that Andy Johnson is suggesting, he wouldn’t have made it out of Foxborough.

Oh my gosh are you seriously this dense?

Floyd became an UFA in March, well before any of that happened. Had he been anything close to the player that you’re claiming, they’d have retained him for reasonable money.

The fact that no one else even wanted him until early summer only solidifies my stance even more.

Floyd went to FA without a whiff of interest here, well before they added Cooks or restructured Amendola. Those players had nothing to do with the decision to move on from Michael Floyd.

I claimed he did an ok job as an emergency injury replacement. The fact that you keep lying about what I said just shows you know your argument is crap.

You were wrong that cooks and amendola (who never left) came after Floyd was gone. You just won’t admit it. Instead you will
misrepresent what I said and personally attack me because that’s all youve got.

Lol at the guy who thinks “he sucks” is a fact disagreeing with facts of the actual dates things occurred. Lol indeed
Dude...I honestly don’t even know what the hell you’re talking about at this point, but you’ve got some deep rooted issues.

You used Floyd as an example of someone who picked up the system quickly, which is a complete joke of a statement considering his inactives, lack of production, and fact that he became a FA without a hint of desire from Bill Belichick, well before the addition of Cooks or restructure of Amendola. Why would you choose May as your date when he left? All that’s showing is that no one really wanted him in March or April and that they had moved on to other options.

You’re also disputing the notion that he’s sucked over the past 2 years, with poor seasons at ARZ and MIN sandwiched between his short and completely unremarkable stay, here.

I don't know why everyone is ragging on Dorsett, he gets open multiple times a game but Tom won't throw him the ball. Idk how many replays I have seen with Dorsett basically uncovered and Tom forcing the ball to Gronk or Cooks.

Please show me where I said Floyd MASTERED THE SYSTEM. You gave attributes that to me numerous times and you know it’s a lie. Why you refuse to admit this is telling.

I disputed the “he sucked” is a fact.
I said he did a good job for an emergency fill
In end of the bench guy. You have misrepresented that as me saying he is a great player, actually to quote you, it was
Curious as to why Belichick would pass up such a big, talented, physical specimen who had mastered the system here, if you’re anything close to correct

Finally you said B.B. let him go elsewhere before he had cooks and amendola which I proved with facts was wrong and you somehow disagreed with that.

I don’t know what your fascination is with changing what I say into what you wish you could dispute but at least have the integrity to admit once I prove it that you are putting words in my mouth that we both know I never said, evidently in order to avoid dealing with what I actually said.

You used Floyd as an example of an outsider who could come in and immediately pick up the system in a discussion a few weeks ago regarding Dorsett. You were very sure of yourself when providing this example.

You also used the date of May 10th as when Belichick passed on Floyd, when the truth is that he passed on him much earlier when free agency started 2 months prior. As we know, he chose Cooks and the restructure to keep Amendola well before, so I don’t even know what that debate is about.

He did. He was playing and contributing in a week. That is proof you can come in and contribute quickly. Duh. Regardless you are LYING when you said MULTIPLE TIMES that I said Floyd MASTERED THE SYSTEM.
Are you capable of admitting that?

So you can’t show me where I said Floyd mastered the system. We both can see you attributed that to me numerous times and you won’t admit you were wrong. Is that where we stand because frankly I have no interest in a conversation with someone who plays those games.

Because that is the actual day it happened.
To summarize.
You said why didn’t Floyd come back.
I said
Edelman
Cooks
Mitchell
Hogan
Amendola

And you replied that Floyd was gone before cooks was here or anendoka was settled or whatever that means.
You are wrong. B.B. could have signed Floyd up to 5/9. Not to mention he was in jail.
You were wrong. You are playing gymnastics with the truth to avoid admitting that. That’s on you.

Waddle and Fleming are plenty good enough as backups if Solder is staying.

Agree.

BB does these things in waves. I have confidence in Thuney, Andrews, Shaq and Cannon. I think Solder will be back because his child is getting elite care at Dana Farber and Children's Hospital.

Garcia or whomever they bring in to be the swing tackle or such they'll be fine.

They've had a talent drain on the front 7. They need to replenish it.

Seems like big bodied injury insurance that gives he team a skill set that they need more than Dorsett’s to me.

After 6 pages finally a Winner. Dorsett is mosrly cheap Cooks insurance and has had that limited role through the year. Britt has less to do with Dorsett and more with Mitchell.

Britt is a totally different player type than Dorsett and gives Josh a new dimension to play around with when designing/calling route concepts. Especially in the redzone. I wouldnt be surprised if he gets some of the Marty crossing routes as well.

I didn't expect this signing at all but then again I missed that he was a Rutgers player. Obvious with hindsight.

At RT? Maybe.

At LT? No feckin way.

And before you type the words Tony Garcia, allow me to spare you the keystrokes:
He Sucks. He's another in a long, and growing longer, line of wasted top-100 draft picks by Bill.
