Patriots Sign WR Corey Coleman

I’m intrigued by Coleman. I wonder whether BB picked Briles’ brain about what makes him tick?

So, uh, where are all the people saying WR wasn’t a need in the offseason. Belichick apparently disagrees and now he’s throwing stuff at the wall to see if anything sticks.

That's pretty much an annual thing. Only the position in question changes.

He had a heck of a game against Jalen Ramsey so the potential may be
there. In college, he was able to get easy separation from the cornerbacks.
Unfortunately, he isn't too bright.

Are you relying on Tyrod Taylor's judgement as a QB?
So your argument is that josh Gordon kept getting open and Taylor didn’t want to throw it to him?
Interesting take but I don’t think I buy it.

Coleman was rejected by the Browns and the Bills. That's enough to make me hope he's the next Patriots star picked up from Buffalo. After Hogans and Gilmore it would be more salt for the Buffalo fans...

Coleman certainly seemed to have some wheels. His QB seemed pretty accurate, too. Lethal combo in college ball.
Yep. Physical ability and athleticism are not the concerns here. Its all between the ears.

What I do know is if he EVER went into BBs office and complained about running with the 2nd team he'll be at Bass Pro Shop looking for a job

Coleman has experience returning punts and kickoffs in college. So yes if he could capture that role on special teams I believe he could keep a spot on the roster. As far as being a wide receiver, he's fast with that 4.37 speed but he needs to run routes and catch balls. If he muffs a few catches early, he could quickly lose Brady's trust. Getting off to a fast start is essential for Coleman, but as noted many, many receivers have failed to catch onto our complex option route system. He has to make the same read and decision as Brady and be at the spots he is expected to be based on the defense.

Not an attack on you, but people need to stop quoting that draft profile. It's flat out wrong. He had 3 punt returns for an out of this world . . . 9 yards.

I actually like dumpster diving at wr with former high profile guys. Dez might actually get a shot at this rate lol. It is too soon though because his ego needs to hit rock bottom first.

At no point was McCarron a threat Sunday. With a guy like Coleman, a fade or random go route against a garbage corner have a shot at being completed. Considering his size, if he puts forth some good blocking that could really spring forth some big plays to guys like Patterson etc.

sounds like a cool guy! (cooler reference)

Sifting through the expensive misjudgments of other teams for something useful while spending zero draft capital and minimal cap space.

BB knows how to use the draft.
Why to waste picks when it is a strong possibility to have first rounders for a penny

I'd be happy if he can catch every punted football he touches. Anything else is a juicy topping.

My argument is pretty clear: he's not a scrub who suddenly lost his HoF level talent, just because you were unimpressed with a week 1 game, despite looking like his old self on the rare occasion the ball was thrown to him. Besides, he's WR who's always open even when covered.

Maybe he didn't want to play in Cleveland and was angling for his release? When he was traded to the Bills I could understand why he wouldn't want to play there either. In any case hopefully he makes the most of this opportunity and sticks around. It could be his last stop.
